Who has the largest Victorinox collection.

I don't know of anyone who's taken the time to be as comprehensive as Chako. He has superb taste in the SAKs he chooses to add to his collection

While Chako has a large/comprehensive collection or MT's and SAK's I would assume there are people out there who dwarf his collection. Nothing against Chako of course. He makes my collection look pathetic.

Depends on if you mean most different types of SAKs, or total number.  I know there are a few guys who try to get one of each type, but they might not have the highest total.  On the other hand Ive seen pics of tables loaded with SAKs, but many of the same type.

I probably have the largest number of SAKs... that are in pieces!  

My collection of SAKs is pretty small at about 40 pcs.  I bought one of each type that I thought was cool, not just to get every different model.  My only repeats are pioneers, I have 8 different colors.

Gareth has like buckets and buckets of pieces/parts! he has shown us. (he rebuilds/repairs them) and I think he stuffs his mattress with them and sleeps on them!

I doubt Chako's collection is the largest. He has more than a few but his main interest are multitools, there are members here who count their SAK collection in the hundreds. +500 They just stay mostly in the Swiss forum and don't show their complete collections but only a few models at a time.

Yeah...most big collectors tend to be a secretive lot. I haven't done a recent count, but I am certain I am not in the running.

I have 5 SAKs,     so when I hear Chako say he is not even in the running when I know he has SOOOOOOO many, it is hard to comprehend.

I cannot imagine what some people must have.

I did a quick headcount...and I figure I have around 800 MTs and 700 SAKs now. 

With that said, I have to figure there are larger collections out there.

I find it fascinating that we could possible have someone here on MTo that could potentially have a World Record collection.  I have including Vic and Wenger 9 with one on the way. Seems the ones im drawn to are discontinued and rather expensive.

I'd like to see pics of all 700 but I know that would take you a lot of time. I wish you would write a book filled with cool pictures someday - I'd buy the first copy!

If you dig enough on these forums, you probably could see them all. Every time I acquired a new knife, or MT, I posted plenty of photos. 

Of course, you could always look at the various Photobucket albums I have...that might be easier for the newer members.

you know I tried to check up on the forum "real quick" one night.  managed to click on of of Chako's pictures.  took 2 hours to get through the photobucket pictures!

Now I am at ease, besides showing my wife various large collection people have(Chako), and kept telling her the next big box of package is for our newborn(which we are not expecting), I could bring her here.  Thank guys, you guys are my hero!

Btw, I have a funny question, I am starting to 'file' my mini-collection, just to be sure when I am travelling and see a Vic, I didn't just impulse buying something that I already owed.  How do you all manage it without too much duplicate?  I usually put down the Brand/color/name of tool/serial number in my evernote(app in my cell phone), so it's with me 24/7.

I used to keep a Excel spreadsheet, but haven't updated it in ages. Columns were brand, name, color, where I bought it, when, price paid and where it is stored.

There's so many different areas to tackle when collecting SAKs, it's like saying 'who has the largest music collection?'

For example, there are:

- Vintage SAKs
- Military SAKs
- Advertising SAKs
- Commemorative / Anniversary SAKs
- Different colours - and this applies to cellidor and alox
- Custom SAKs

and the list goes on...  I don't see how anyone would focus on all the genres at once.

When trying to size a collection, I like to break it down (as above).

Me, personally - I collect recent SAKs but I enjoy the various colours in both cellidor and alox. I also collect when possible Commemorative / Anniversary SAKs such as the 125th Anniversary Climber (which happens to be one of my favorite SAKs).

As said some people are focused, others, like me just get what they fancy. There are also many secret, older, collectors, sort of lime the Nrm of cigars.
When I went to collect a limited edition item from the dealer he had 5 similar ones reserved for the "permanent" collectors, who just buy all limited editions and have done so for many years.
