New Mini Maglite 2AAA LED penlight

I added a Mini Maglite 2AAA LED penlight to my penlight connection recently.   It is a new model and I didn't know it existed until I saw one in a sporting goods store.

It's not a bad light for about $18 and is possibly my thinnest penlight.   It is rated for 84 lumens and out throws my other 2AAA lights when the focus is adjusted for a tight hotspot.

The furnished pocket clip is the same one used on the Solitaire and it slides along the somewhat slippery battery tube.  Perhaps the black colored Mini Maglite 2AAA LED light is grippier, but this was the last Mini Mag in the store.

The tint is fairly white, though the hot spot looks yellow when focused against a white wall indoors.    "Candle stand" operation is possible, as with other Mini Maglites, by removing the head and standing the remainder of the flashlight inside the head.

The Pelican 1920 remains my favorite penlight, though it is thicker and heavier.

Here is the new 2AAA Mini Maglite LED penlight compared to the 2AA Mini Maglite LED.  There is a striking size difference.

My first ever Maglite was a 2xAAA so I have a real soft spot for them.  What I would love to see is a slimmer head though, so something like a longer version of the Solitaire, but I am not going to hold my breath over that.   Cheers for the write up mate, I can see this going on my Christmas list.

I have the orig AA mag, but upgraded the bulb to a led, I love it, it's a TerraLux TLE-5k2 and converts it to 140 lumens! The only thing that is a down fall, is how it turns on, grant it it's the same way, but if you turn it to far it comes apart, unlike before where it takes like 8-10 turns.. JR

I'll be getting one , I rocked a AAA Mini Mag Incan for about ten years . ( In fact I carried two , as a bulb change in an attic or crawlspace was near impossible )

I picked up a red one (2aaa LED) at my local Target. So far, this is my favorite light. It's not too bright and lasts over 5 hours on a set of batteries.

I got tired of the newer fangled lights that are about 8 million lumens and heat up to over 200 degrees on their highest setting! Not to mention, their batteries are dead in a half hour of that output!

Back to subject, this mag light is just the right size for pocket carry and takes my most commonly stocked batteries (AAA's). I like the focusing abilities as well. I have not used the candle stand feature yet but see how that can be of use as well. I think this is the perfect emergency light in contrast to my others and would recommend it to everyone.

Yeah, I'm definitely a fan.  It's been living in my maxpedition organiser and I've used it quite a bit at work.  As you say it's a nice size, nice brightness and the focus is handy.  Is it my favourite light?  No, not really, but that doesn't make it bad either.

In our bedroom, the only light switch is at the entry of the room, so I keep my mag lite handy on my night stand for maneuvering around at night. I also have a Coleman mini lantern that I use from time to time.
