Victorinox Driver (Recruit with different scales)

I just got a Victorinox Driver from Canadian Tire.


I've noticed that it has different scales then normal SAKs. While the normal SAKs have a smooth handle where fingerprints are visible, the Driver has rough textured scales.


I've added a picture comparing the Driver (in red) to my Camo Spartan. Note that the Spartan has glossier scales.

I was just wondering why this isn't on Victorinox's website. Is it an exclusive in Canada?

I've never seen one before, it's probably a Canadian Tire exclusive.

Those are nylon 'economy' scales. They're very nice, I have a Climber with those

Only the name. The exact same SAK in 'economy' scales is/was sold in other countries across the globe (I bought few of them myself over the years).

On the link it says it's called the Recruit 2 in other countries.
