You NEED a MultiPlier of some sort...be it a Mr Pinchy,a MP400(gets my vote), or a MP600,rather than the newer stuff like Fliks or Diesels. You might want to look at a Balance too
Quote from: CanadianLMfan on October 13, 2013, 03:58:07 AMI'm going to have to back up LM here. First, the Octane should not be compared to the Wingman/Sidekick. A better comparison would be against the Suspension, in which LM is better. The Dime is the stiffest multitool I've ever used, and I've almost broken my fingernail multiple times (but the pliers are good). Next, Juice is much better than Balance in build quality and asthetics (what is the Balance supposed to look like?). I don't know about the other tools since I don't have them.Wait a minute. I noticed in your collection thread that you don't own an Octane or a Balance. Have you ever used either of these tools? Have you ever even handled them? The Suspension is more akin to the larger locking LM tools, and I agree - the Suspension is garbage. The Octane compares well to the Wingman/Sidekick - light duty, minimalist tools. The Octane has locking tools, which neither of the LM's do. Ever try to torque a tight screw with a Wingman? I have. When the driver folded on me the third time I got rid of the thing. I find the Octane to be an excellent around town tool that is less bulky than either the Wingman or the Sidekick. As to the Balance - really? What's it supposed to look like? I guess I'm silly for thinking it looks like a multitool... If you're going to judge tools and knives from a purely aesthetic standpoint, you're going to miss out on a lot of top-notch gear..... All of the tools on the Balance are outside opening, and they don't stab you like those damn flatheads on the Juice. The driver length is so much more useful on the Balance. I find the shape of the blade on the Balance to be better for general utility work, and there's no way that the scissors on my S2 are even close to being in the same league as those on the Balance. The plier jaws are wider, and the wider handles on the Balance are much more comfortable when using the pliers than the Juice. The pliers also don't jam against the drivers on a Balance when closing them, unlike EVERY time I've tried to close my S2. And there's nothing wrong with the build quality o my Balance, not one bit. It doesn't get abused, but it's certainly not babied. I expect my tools to do the job required, and for me the Balance beats the snot out of my Juice. Yes, everyone here is entitled to their opinions on tools. But when you make statements like "the Juice is much better than the Balance" be prepared to back them up with experience......

Well I've CARRIED AND USED both many times, and have owned, carried and used several Juices, and I'm in full agreement with JD. This is NOT a Gerber vs Leatherman thing - this is one individual tool vs another, and I have found that the Balance and the Octane are the tools I would want on me as I have more faith in them. Leatherman's Wave out performs them both, but sometimes a Wave (or Spirit, or .....) is too much and you want a lighter tool. JD's comments pretty much hit the nail on the head for me. Many people like the Juice line, but the Balance is the one I'd choose everyday.
As for the Dime, I must admit my black version is very stiff, although my green version which is carried most has been very good. I have tried two Squirt P4s which both had quality issues, and of the two the Dime is my favourite - although BOTH the Dime and PS4 (which I have handled but never carried and used) have had problems with scissor springs breaking. The good thing with the Dimes though, is that with the right driver bits, the pivots are adjustable As for the Balance, that depends. With all respect, it partly depends if you are prepared to approach it with an open mind, or just use it as another excuse to try and champion Leatherman If you're not going to approach it with an open mind and hate it from the outset, then it will be a waste of money. Personally I think it's an excellent tool, but you need to make the decision as to whether it's the kind of tool that would suit you and your needs
Also, my Dime scissors refuse to work.
I think that every Dime or Squirt is slightly different in build quality. It's just that my Squirt is good and my Dime is not as good. No Balance, I'll get a Spirit sometime instead.

Too tight?Quote from: CanadianLMfan on October 14, 2013, 12:02:29 AMI think that every Dime or Squirt is slightly different in build quality. One of them also had bald spots on the file
The Scissors on my squirt ps4 gave out on its 2nd week. Sent from my Cruize W280 using Tapatalk http://tapatalk.com/m?id=10']now Free[/url]
The build quality does indeed vary, but also the scissor spring design is rather poor, and has had numerous failures on the Styles, Squirts and Dimes reported here
