Paratool question
on: October 18, 2013, 06:50:06 PM
I was looking at my Paratools last night,when I thought I noticed the plier head on my new BO one looked bigger than on the SS one. It also looked like the arms have been redesigned.

Does any one know when this redesign happened?

They both say sog USA on the pliers head.

I'm not sure why they changed.

I've been EDCing mine the last week for a change and what Id like to know is if all the versions have the blade and serrated blade ground down on the tips.  Its odd.  My guess was the frame changed at some point and the standard tools didnt fit so they ground the tips off?  I can even see black marks on the ends where its obvious they've been ground.

@Syph007

I understand now what you and Jie were talking about in my thread when I got my BO paratool. Mine doesn't have that blade tip grind off. It's a perfect fit. (although chisel ground ::) ) The replacement large blade I bought for it is V ground though and is just a tad too long for the frame.

Oh so it used to come with a shorter chisel ground blade... ahhhh at least it makes sense now.

I love the paratool.  Heavy gauge frame, polished finish, smooth handles when in plier mode and perfect for lanyard carry.  It can actually hold quite a few tools too.  I gotta track down a few more to finish my idea loadout.  The robertson one is pretty hard to find now, but I have one on another tool.

Yes, here's a screen capture from the video I did on it a while back. The two blades side by side.

The BO Paratool is pretty sweet.  Does it feel as nice in hand as the SS?  My SS Paratool just feels nice in hand, very smooth and polished.

I have a feeling this ss Para tool was assemble in China from mostly made in USA parts.
I also think they press the frame there and the press is a bit different from the USA one

but I what do I know I'm just guessing

SOG is up to some sneakiness that I do know for sure.
