  From what I gathered...

Quote from: Anonymous
The Croc was a specialty item Leatherman created specifically at the request of Home Depot for their Black Friday media push. They wanted an item similar to the Piranha, but without the extra bit, to go with one of their best sellers - the Sidekick.

Croc update

I am more and more happy with it. ???

I know I didn't think I would be either lol

I've used all of its functions all worked great.

the lack of on board bit storage make it very easy to get it in and out if my skinith/sheath.

the old piranha I used to have would always snag because of the bit storage.

I  wish it had a 1/4 but holder . Besides that its a great tool.

I haven't bent yet. I still think I will,but it hasn't happened yet.

I highly recommend this one.

its a good cheap functional tool .

Im quite happy with the Croc as well. The simplicity makes it appealing and the flatline ergonomics make it not snag and is very easily pocketable or slipped into sheaths or whatever you may carry. Completely agree with you JA.  :tu:

I doubt they will ever sell them on there own now that they released the new Piranha, but I think it might be smart for them to make these available at a reasonable price. I cant imagine it cost them much to make since it is very simplistic and they are not using and super steels.

they really do need to get a croc out.

I'd like to see them add a 1\4 bit slot but besides that its great the way it is.

I have used the Croc more than I thought I would and too agree with the above sentiments.  I posted a picture showing the Croc can be used to turn 1/4 bits but would be a bit of a PITA.  Someone mentioned using a o ring to help hold the bit in place.

My croc is always in my sheath, although I rarely use it. It does come in very handy when I remember its there. I don't have piranha to compare with, but I like the croc well enough.

Apparently, not all Home Depots sell the same stuff. I have yet to find the Sidekick/Croc combo at my store in Great Falls. In fact, the only 2 LMs I have ever seen at my Home Depot are the Wave and Wingman.

As much as I dislike the thinness of the Croc, given what they've done to the Pirahana, I'd like to see them make it a catalog item. Maybe a little thicker. So big Croc and eat the new, "improved" Pirahna when it breaks.

I can understand everyone's concern about the tool being thinner and thinking it will bend. But to be honest I've used the narrowest part of the crocs edge to turn some pretty heavy duty screws.

I don't think it needs to be treated as a light use tool by any means.

I was gonna.

I'm kinda broke until my wife starts working again.

I did email  leatherman asking them to donate one

they will not. :(

maybe I should ask them again.

you would think they would want to get it out to be reviewed.

the piranha 2. Really makes me miss my lost ptx piranha Il say that.

I will always think the ptx is better than the 2 until I prove myself wrong. I doubt I'm wrong.

If that was to me, yes I did and still do think it is a very, very bad sign when you are knocking off your own tools. Leatherman has two knock offs of the Pirahna, the Croc and the Piranha II. The latter is trying too hard to have too many widgety bits. So while I consider the Croc to be inferior to the first generation of LM Piranha, I think it can take more torque than the Piranha II, and a tool like this will get abused at some point in it's life.

it rides in my skinith perfect and I carry it every day I go to work.

Excuse me, but I don't see the big deal with bit driver.
I have full size MT, use it for screw driving. I see the croc being use as wrench & prybar.
It is pocket friendly, so I am more Likely to have it when i need it.

you got me thinking Lam

I don't really need the bit holder either. I carry a little ratchet in my skinith/sheath with it so I doubt I would use it.

I still Think it would look better with one.

I am thinking too,

Lots members here love their pocket wrench II, and some EDC a CountyComm pry bar as well.
I don't have either of those tools, (yet) but can Croc fill the role of both of them combine?
It is a wrench, it can pry, also a good flat-head driver too.

(Been trying to get a pocket wrench & CC prybar, but they aren't exactly cheap, with shipping one is $30 the other is $24, seen a lot for a simple tool).  :P
