Hello, from Denmark
on: October 28, 2013, 01:47:34 PM
After lurking around here for a few days - actually almost a week - I thought it was time to sign up and start really getting involved. Even seen a few Danes here already. :D

The name is Jimmi, 24 years old, living with my girlfriend in a small apartment. Always had a fascination for knifes - both pocket knifes and larger folding knifes. A few years back, I decided I needed my first multitool and found a cheap one, a MultiMate Mini at a local army surplus store. Ever since it's been in my pocket practically every day, whether I'm working, with friends, at a restaurant or even out shopping. I hardly never need it away from work, but I like the security it gives me, being able to cut a package open, remove staples from a wall or just tighten a screw here and there.

Now, I'm looking for something a bit more heavy duty, strictly for work use. Thus, I found this wonderful site. The reviews really steal my time and hopefully, the forum will do so to.
So, give me your best shot! :D

 :multi: Welcome to the forum!

As you've already seen there's no shortage of opinions! If you look at Gerber MP400s,Victorinox Spirits and LM Fuse,or the Danish market Wave your well on your way!

There is no beginning,or ending, and for this we are thankful, cos now is hard enough to understand!

Thanks for the welcome. :D

I appreciate your input, but I gotta say, I'm not overly fond of the Gerber series - at least not the one with the sliding pliers. It just seems like a waste of space, in my opinion. The Victorinox Spirit seems like a good option.

Regarding the Danish edition of the Wave, I took a quick look at Leathermans site and couldn't find it, but I suppose it's like the normal Wave, but with a 2 handed blade instead? Since I'm gonna use it strictly for work use, OHO tools and knifes should be legal in Denmark, if I understand the law correctly. It just has the be stowed away, while moving to and from work, i.e. not in my pockets or directly on my person. I'm pretty sure AHB knows alot more about this than me.

At the moment, the ones that seem most interesting to me, is Leatherman's Skeletool and Freestyle models. I just know I'm gonna miss the hook cutter/belt strapper that's on my current MT.

Welcome aboard!

If you want something more heavy duty, I recommend a Supertool, SwissTool or a Charge.

Welcome to the forum, Freaver. :hatsoff:

You would be correct in that assumption. :D

Here are a couple examples of them in AHB's collection.

Hej Jimmi, velkommen til MT.O.  Great to see all you Vikings rush in these days..  :viking: :D

Sadly not.. :( You're not allowed to own or carry any kind of OHO folder or MT in Denmark. The blade on the Danish 2HO Wave is locking and longer than 7 cm, so it's only allowed for work, hunting ect..  Being "caught" with a OHO blade will get you a 5000 kr. fine first time and maybe a trip behind bars second time.. There's a bunch of good quality tool which are allowed to carry 24/7 though..  :)
Feel free to drop me a pm, if you have any questions..  :tu:

Welcome

And I might have broken the law in Denmark a few months ago without knowing it.
I brought my OH trekker on a weekend trip to Livø.  :-\

Thanks for the hearty welcome. As AHB clearly says, I've misunderstood the law, about OHO blades in Denmark, so that leaves a couple of good tools out. But I hope, as Aloha007 says, that it should be possible to find myself a good tool, that won't make me nervous about seeing the police. :)

I was going to say "strictly for work use" is a standard excuse but as I read on I understand what you meant. Either way, welcome!
