What the heck is this BUG Thingy
on:
November 23, 2013, 07:17:05 PM
To quote my daughter "What the heck is this BUG Thingy"?
I just bought this knife. I know it is a Victorinox and is related to the Altimeter, Traveller, group.
The Bug has a working light in it.

That would be the Traveller Lite. There's a few more models with the light, they're usually called just the model name that it would be without the light-layer, and then put a "Lite" behind the name. (that way, you also have, for example, the Spartan Lite)

Third topic!!! Yes!!! In your face internets!!!
Electronic scales are my niche...
Anyway, you have a Voyager Lite not Traveller. He was guessing, I'm not.
Bmot has tons of good info though...but this topic is mine.
"Bug thingy"
The light? A Ladybug I could see, but Centipede...
Anyway, the light is powered by the same battery that powers the display.
So you'll need two cr1225's. (and a third for the display) When changing the battery look in the compartment there will be a + & - symbol. One battery faces up the other face down.
Do not, I repeat "do not" actuate the switch with the door removed. The door actually keeps part of the terminal in place and actuating while open can lead to a bent terminal..ask me how I know.
Ahhh!!! Whoa!!! I'm a little light headed from being useful... I need to lay down.
Take that internets!!!

Thanks for the response. The Centipede/Ladybug Thingy's light is working.
I must install a battery to get the scale's functions working.

The best way to open the battery compartment is to use the mini driver.
That goes for all Vic's with electronics scales. Sig. Lite, Traveller, etc...
O, and how you liking it? Is it going to be carried?

It's totally cool, I like the inline Phillips, the lite I have heard is weak but I still want one.

If it is anything like my Huntsman Lite, then I'd say it compares well to a Photon I. So it isn't great, but it's better than nothing. And it points in the direction of the blade at least. What I really don't like about it is the switch- easy to press on, and when the batteries are only available at RadioHack or online, and at $5+ each, that's no fun.
