Survival kit essentials

Rs back with another hopeless bunch. Spotted at Walgreens for $5 each. Definitely did not look survival ready. The MT looked like it would break as I took it out of the package.

  • Any tool is better than nothing. Some not by much

There is a multitool, sort of a bottom-end PST clone that I see fairly frequently, but most often lately at 'Rural King' for about $6 which isn't terrible, or maybe IS terrible, but still a lot better than nothing.

That MT you pictured looks... worse... if that's possible. Held together with flathead screws, and tools only in one handle? Or am i missing something?

For $5, yeah, even >I< would skip that one.

This looked truly terrible. Sometimes I think, hey if I'm getting a collection of pictures, why not buy them.... but I'd be broke with a bunch of awful tools. Would rather save $5 each time I come across one and get the new Surge.  :gimme:

I agree. Of all the cheap-o's I've seen, these seemed extraordinarily weirdly designed. It's like they had the plier heads from one batch, and handles from another batch of scrap - and decided to screw them together. The heads were so small, I was surprised. It looked like they would definitely break under any torque.

And for those eagle-eyed viewers - note the spring loaded feature! You know quality is really really high when you can see the actual spring on spring-loaded pliers!

Just noticed the "CAUTION: Sharp Edges" - is that on the packaging do you think?

I guess it must be - because in the 7 tools listed they have not listed the blade
