Parts donation thread?!
on: December 17, 2013, 09:16:02 AM
Sometimes people on here give parts away, mostly spares and small parts that don´t need their own thread but need a place to be talked about.
I could imagine a dedicated thread for those occasions might be nice.

I am thinking about a thread where you offer parts you are willing to give away free.
You may only ask for shipping costs. If you want something in return, we do have the trade section.
Maybe the only thing that could be asked for, although not mandatory, could be that you pass on the favor when you have something to spare.

The parts should be within the EDC/MT/Knife/lights ballpark but can be anything from 10 spare Vic Toothpicks, a Pelibox seal or a spare set of CNCed 111mm alox scales... ;)

What do you think?

Until now I opened new threads when I wanted to get rid of something, but maybe a place you can check out now and then might be useful, too?
On the other hand, a single-item thread can just be closed and marked gone while a longer thread needs constant editing.

Thoughts?

I think a pair of CNC 111mm scales sounds good...

But seriously if it could be made to work, it would be a good idea.

Human nature re "freebies" being what it is*, I've waited until someone has mentioned a component that they want before offering.  I've even had to buy some more of one particular item because I gave away all my spares here on MT.O

* If something is offered for free I've noticed that some people will take it even if they don't really need it, simply because it is free.  Not saying any MT.Oers are like that, and getting people to pay for shipping will probably slow them down if they are.
