Found!!!: PST, Detron's collection is missing one!
on: December 26, 2013, 12:28:02 AM
I am interested in buying a PST.  I am not looking for a super early/rare one.

I thought I would ask here before hitting up ebay, since I trust the members here to be more knowledgeable about the condition and usability of the tool.

if anyone has one they are interested in parting with, PM me and we will see where we stand.

I am interested in the lower priced ones, however, I am not looking for something that is ruined.

thanks everyone

Awesome!  thank you!  I just kinda fear ebay for my first PST,  I have made out great on SAKs (usually I buy lots and enjoy cleaning them and finding uncommon ones) , but I am a little hesitant on the PST from there.  This fear may be unjustified, but it exisits.

thanks to Sazabi,  I have a GREAT PST!

since there are some serious collectors here, I must point out that Great to me means in excellent shape, with no issues.  I was not looking for a super old one or a super rare one.

anyway, this PST is is excellent shape.

the Plier head looks great!

I do not think the knife was ever used (or not used much)

and I got an old style sheath too!   (I was super excited about this, I love the simple Leatherman ladder of letters)   :ahhh

I also got a PST II at a steal form Sazabi

This was a beater he was willing to sell me, and I will clean it over the next week or so, and probably carry it from time to time.

the pliers are in good shape (no ruined cutters, or slop)

the side with the scissors has some dirt, but at a great price, I am thrilled!!

the diamond file has a groove cut into it, but I probably will actually find a use for that  (I sit and think of crap like that)

If I can help, let me know

Cleaning of PST II started, here are the results so far (VAST improvement)

Scissors work now!   before the spring would not open the scissors

OK, the plier head looks very rusty in these pictures (taken with flash) but to the eye they look pretty clean

Use rubbing alcohol to clean most of the grunge off the diamond file with a toothbrush and what's left a white eraser will keep it dirt free.

The groove is for hooks and needles! :)

Are you sarong the PST2 had that Grove from the factory?   And thanks for the tip.  What I did so far was just do a basic cleaning with qtips.  It had hard dirt in the crevasses

Yah, it came that way, for those crazy fisherman folk. The Pulse also used the same file.

That's super cool of him and nice early bday gift to yourself.  Those PSTs are very much addictive as many here can attest to.  I want a PST2 but I've been looking for one that is not marked PST2 but internally is.

Goodluck, and I will keep my eyes peeled for you.   If I find one it is yours.   (Every day when I put the Kershaw in my pocket,   I think how nice a gift,   followed by,   I hope I find him something to repay him)

It is like a feeling of debt that I have placed on myself, because that is how I am,   I cannot help it

I know you gave it freely,  because that is who you are.

I can give in the same manner and never think of it again.

But being the recipient is a special feeling and If nothing else my little quirk erases the possibility of the kind act being forgotten.

I know you are not in sunny California counting days wondering what is taking me so long,  but one day I will run across something that I feel you need,  and then I can feel all happy to give.

Nice PSTs Detron! Gotta love those old saber blade models :tu:

And as Metro mentioned, that grove in the diamond file works great for sharpening hooks. The PST II was marketed a little bit more toward us crazy fisherman folk :D. I wish all of my MTs had that kind of file, they work excellent for sharpening hooks.
