So I acquired...
on: January 21, 2014, 01:50:16 PM
A fenix eo1. Although its a nice little light, I'm not quite sure why its as popular as it is. It's not nearly as bright as the streamlight microstream that I use as a benchmark for all other AAA lights, and its a twisty instead of a clicky. Don't get me wrong, it's useful and small, but it seems that everyone loves them. Am I missing some crazy function or something? Maybe I got a dud, and that's why it isn't as bright as my microstream?

It's not the brightness, it's everything else. ;)

Almost bombproof, great run time, can run on dead batteries that won't even work in the TV remote. People dropped them from buildings, froze them in blocks of ice, used them as ice picks and the little things just keep on going.

If you need a small flashlight you can trust completely, this is it. :tu:

People dig the E01 because:  1) it provides plenty of usable light in a dark environment; 2) it has something like 11 hours of regulated runtime, followed by about the same amount of diminishing light; 3) it is built like a tank; and 4) it costs $15 or less.

20+ hours of runtime on an AAA is kooky.  That right there is enough reason to get one.  Rock on.

Alrighty then. That clears everything up lol. Now, as far as testing the bomb-proof feature: let's drop it from a telephone pole today at work lol.

:o
I'll bet it will still work afterwards (might get a bit dinged up if it lands on concrete).  These are simple, reliable, tough little lights.
