Hey there y'all, just thought it would be best to introduce myself. New around these parts, and honestly it was because of Syph and his amazing mods that I found enough info here to go on ahead and register. I am currently living in Iloilo, Philippines but am from Texas, right on the SE border with Louisiana (Cajun here!), originally.

After seeing what Syph has done I have gotten off the fence and fallen in love with the potential tool in an Alox. Always wanted one, but never could find one that had everything that I wanted in it!

Other than the Alox I also tend to carry a LM Mut and a few other accessories for it. Maybe one day I will find some time and post up a picture of my travelling pouch!

Anyway, thanks y'all and thanks for all the info on here!

Greetings and Welcome to MTo,  Syph is quite a talented person so its not hard to see how one could be drawn to Alox and what can be done as far as customizing.  It would be interesting to see your traveling pouch when you have the time to snap a few pictures of it.

I always stayed away from them because I had never seen the Alox, only the plastic ones, and even those never filled what I was looking for. There always seemed to be 1 or 2 tools that I had no use for and 1 or 2 tools that I really wanted. Now Syph has me hooked lol

I will do my best, it's not quite complete and definitely isn't an EDC or survival kit. Just a nice little pack with some tools, gadgets, and little doodads that make camping and travelling a little easier.

Nice! What brought you to Iloilo and where are you from? Fortunately, I live in Iloilo City and it was missed by Yolanda. Some of the villages weren't so lucky. The worst part is that many of the villages here were forgotten by the government for 2-4 weeks and they were stuck scrounging to survive. Tacloban and others were hit harder, there is no doubt, but it still sucks to hear of people dying from lack of water because no one could get to them and the government didn't even try for many weeks.

Welcome to the forum. I love the Philippines! We visit frequently but the airfare is getting a little high now. My wife is from Cagayan de Oro and we plan on retiring there in a few years.

I live just east of Beaumont. Honestly, not much of a transition lol. Catholic lifestyles, seafood everyday, and hot and humid all the time makes it almost feel like home some days lol

Lol I do my best to bring it with me. Currently have two friends here that put in their visa application and are planning on moving to Dallas. Most of my friends here want to visit Texas now lol

Hello and welcome!   :)

I visited Texas for my holiday last year with friends and had a great time. It's a big place!  We started in Houston where we got a warm welcome from the friendly locals at the bars near the hotel and we carried on in the same way.  We took a road trip to San Antonio, Fredericksburg, Austin for the weekend during SXSW, the beach at Port Aransas, and finished up sharing a log cabin with some alligators at the Chain O' Lakes resort near the Trinity river.  Awesome!   :D

The weather was warm and the bar-b-q was excellent!   :cheers:

Glad you enjoyed yourself! About the only thing you missed (in my opinion) is some time out in Big Bend. Sounds like you took to the locals as well as they took to you, happy to hear it. So many people around the world (and the country) have a seriously negative, and wrong, idea of what Texas and Texans are like.

That's a shame.   :(  People shouldn't believe stereotypes but I think it is easy to fall into that trap.  It was a Texan who informed me that the phrase "Don't mess with Texas" is actually an anti-litter campaign (which incidentally seems to be working).  I just thought it was a cool slogan.    :D   :multi:
