Victorinox Cigar Cutter.
on: January 14, 2014, 01:14:38 AM
I have eyed the Victorinox Cigar Cutter for many years now, constantly battling with myself if I needed one to represent Victornnox's idea in comparison to Wengers. I have several Wenger cigar cutter models. To be honest, I always liked Wenger's cigar cutter implementation better than that of Victorinox.

Well I lost the battle, or is that won the battle. I now have a 74mm Victorinox Cigar Cutter.

It came in this nice display tin.

The knife features 3 rings that are super sharp. I still like the guillotine contraption that Wenger uses. It just seems more adaptable to all types and sizes of cigars. I don't smoke so I can't tell you which is better by actual use, so don't ask.  :D

A little Leatherman information.

Looking good.   :tu:

I can personally vouch for the effectiveness of the Vic Cigar Cutter actually cutting cigars, but unfortunately have no experience with the Wenger model to compare.

Looks cool. How does it work?

It's a punch cutter, really only effective on Parejo cigars so there are still another 4 major types of cigars that it won't cut correctly. However, most cigars out there are Parejos.

Basically it punches a nice little line around the cap of the cigar. When you pull the punch away you get a perfectly round hole to draw smoke through.

Having used it for its intended purpose, I prefer the Wenger Cigare 704.  I bought it at a gourmet smoke shop in the Gangnam District, Seoul, South Korea (COEX Mall- Havana Cigars, International Grand Hotel).  They ONLY sold Cuban Cigars there ("smoother than a prom-queen's thighs, but not quite so risky"- from the movie Heartbreak Ridge, with Clint Eastwood, 1986).
