What a holiday season.
on: January 17, 2014, 01:37:57 PM
Its been a bad few months within the family.  From mid November to the 5th of January our family lost 3 members.  Great uncle Jimmy (90), great aunt Norma (92) and my Grandfather Vernon(85) father of my mother. Norma and Vern are brother and sister. My Great Uncle and Great Aunt passed from natural causes in their homes. My Grandfather passed in hospice care. All were dairy farmers and small business owners during their lives. Each of them have had a big impact on my life growing up. They are missed sorely. The family has come together in a way I haven't seen since I was a kid. A good kick in the ass for us. That in itself brings me to tears because everyone knows the family has grown apart.

Then there's my hound dog Sage. She lost sight in her left eye due to glaucoma and her right eye will go blind within the year. She dosent deserve to lose her sight. We've been getting her out on my grandmothers land to run free and drive out some rabbits so she can enjoy all her senses but that's been hampered by my surgery. Im back in crutches for another month. The surgery was an out patient deal. Removal of scar tissue that would cause swelling, numbness. Im healing up great in body but my mind is a mess. MTO is gonna be a therapy for a while to ease me and take my mind off the absolute suck that has been going on.

Son of a smurf! I hope things start to turn around for your clan. Is there anything they can do for the dog?

Wow man, sorry to hear about all that!  I'm not close to much of my family really, so I probably can't really even imagine how you must be feeling with losing family members to whom you had an attachment.  Families do grow apart as years go by though in many cases, and it is sad to think about how that happens as we get older.

I'm glad you're healing well physically at least.  I was beginning to wonder about you as I recently noticed your absence.  I assumed you were busy back at work or something, not going through a bunch of sucky business.  Again, sorry for your losses :(  I hope MTo provides some good therapy for you, and you know we're here to help with that buddy :tu:

Sorry for your loss. I haven't had the best of times myself the past few months, I lost my mom (56) at the end of November, hence my rather rushed trip back to Nova Scotia and the time I spent at Grant's place.

If that wasn't enough, my grandmother has pretty bad Alzheimer's and shortly after I left had to be put into care as she wandered off in the middle of a snow storm. She's unaware of the situation with my mom. My mom was visiting her daily, after work and without her around I guess my grandmother got restless or who knows what. She's the last of my grandparents, and I lost the other 3 within a year, quite a few years ago (I was living in London UK at the time).

The day after New Years my mother in law was rushed to the emergency room, which initially freaked us out quite a bit, but it turned out to be nothing serious. She had self medicated on an empty stomach and her body rejected it. Plus I suppose the stress of the holiday period wore her out.

And last week a High School friend passed.

Like you, I could really use some good news for a change.
The difficult we do immediately, the impossible takes a little longer.
