Swisschamp wanted
on: February 03, 2014, 09:03:18 PM
I don't know if this should be in the EDC swap section so Mod please advise......

I currently EDC an Explorer my daughter bought me from an antique shop and I really love it, but I miss the saw from my previous EDC Huntsman. The perfect EDC for me would be a Woodsman but they're probably very rare, so a Swisschamp may be the answer.

Question is, does anyone have one they would consider trading for my Huntsman plus my Farmer, both in great condition although the Farmer scales aren't pristine. I don't mind too much about the condition it's in as long as it's tight and useable.

I can provide pics if anyone is interested.

I also have a Recruit with 'Gavin' inscribed on it (Don't ask!)

Woodsman? Huntsman with a Phillips,yes?

Try this

Supposing he's talking about woodsman,
i.e. huntsman with magnifying glass and philips ...

Go with Outdoorsman (Marlboro edition), it is great SAK and easy to find on ebay.

I'll move it to the Swap Shop but leave a redirection topic in the Swiss forum so you're covered in both cases.

I would suggest a Champion, rather than a Swisschamp if what you really want is a cellidor Woodsman.  The Champion is only two thin layers wider than the Woodsman (scaler and file), and doesn't have the bulk and weight of the plier layer like the SwissChamp.

The backspring phillips doesn't compare well to the inline phillips, IMO, so I don't think you'll like a Fieldmaster.

Thanks for your input everybody - what I essentially want is the woodsaw layer with mag glass and in-line phillips - a tool which has become my most used! especially now I modded a bit holder to fit it - it's even more versatile now.

I can't afford a mod, and don't want to risk doing it myself as I don't have any tools (lots of carpentry stuff and experience but no metal working tools) so a swap is my only option.

Not that one, which is going over to tosh, but either a Champion and a Swisschamp, both in Leather pockets with a Kit - I have them in the box of objects I mean to photograph and sell.

I'll keep looking - it's got to be a swap - I have no money for new SAK's!

Have you looked at a Huntsman Lite?  Same as a Woodsman but swapped a LED for the magnifier.  Not ideal I know but as close as you are going to get from the current line.
