Anyone tried one of these?

http://www.heinnie.com/product.asp?s=95vxr6455043&strParents=&CAT_ID=0&P_ID=2909

No I haven't, but it looks decent for specialized uses.

Too expensive for a coin cell light, for me at least.

Price would be a little high, but maybe acceptable if it was in US$ - but not in pounds sterling!

Do bear in mind everything is usually twice as expensive over here, so you can probably get it for half that.

You're right - I checked a few places and it's available for that same price, but in US$ rather than pounds.

I'd rather spend a little more and get a Streamlight Sidewinder - much more versatile with multi-color capabilities and multi-level lumen outputs.

Coin cell lights have their place - on keychains and neck lanyards for example - but they are quite limited in runtime and output level.  They start off fairly bright, but will dim to 50% initial output within maybe 15 to 30 minutes.

I've heard about it, doesn't look very sturdy, like for outdoor usage.
reminds me of a joystick!

I want one for the gadget factor. I hope to see it at the BLADE show and then decide if it's worthwhile to purchase or not. There hasn't been a lot of chatter on it and I have yet to see a user review.

I'd bet it's directly driven pumping over 60ma of current into 5mm led, which is speced for 20ma, and the turn dial alter which led connect to the battery.

$10 maybe, but that much no way.

I have the Sidewinder and it is a great flashlight (or torch).

Like Spoon though, I would be tempted by it's gadgetness.

jock1, check out this light:
http://www.brightguy.com/products/Pelican_VB3_LED_Flashlight.php

Seems to be a popular light with cops, ambulance crew, etc. who need to write on clipboards fairly often.
