Before we started MTO you could get a Japan made PST on eBay for $25.   ::)

Def

A few years ago I bought a POCKET SURVIVAL TOOL stamped PST for 12.50. It is very seldom you touch one for less than $50.00 these days.
What? Enablers! Are you serrrrious? Where? I dont see any.

That depends.

If you are using all the different plier/cutter heads on a regular basis then it is the only multitool around that does that (just be careful not to break it or lose it).  I don't know how robust the clips that locates and holds the heads (inside the handles) are on the military version, but the civilian clips seem to be quite fragile.

If you mostly only use one plier head then I would definitely get an MP600 with that head and use it (it will also be a lot more compact than a full military MP650 set).  Either put the MP650 out to pasture in your collection, or sell it if you'd rather have the money, or swap it for something else that you really want but haven't been able to afford.

Other MP650 on ebay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/321333382892?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

This one sold for $US 435.05 !!!!   :o

That is actually bonkers.
A ridiculous sum of money for what it basically is.
And I'm not saying that out of jealousy or envy. I've got the small pouch kit version.
But even I baulked when I saw how much it had been sold for.
Its great news for all of us that own a plethora of MT's & SAKs, but the new guys coming along will obviously have to dig far deeper than we ever did.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

That is pretty crazy.  I'd love to have one of these kits to actually use, not as a collectors item.  Maybe if I'm lucky I'll find a beat up used one that won't go for a stupid amount of money.  I know, wishful thinking!

It's just not for me... Not for a tool I wouldn't use. I'm not saying I don't have a few backups of this and that, but that is ridiculous for what it is (IMO). Fools and their money I say.. Fools and their money!
