Just wondering if you can keep your lights set to come on at a certain level, which one do you choose? Any lights I have that are multi level, I keep them set to come on high. I figure if I need low then I can set it as needed, but if I am going to really need a blast of real light, Im going to need it right away...self defense, fast check of a dark area...checking noises in the night and so on. Whats your preference?
Most of my multi-level lights always come on in High (with no choice available) which is what I prefer for an outdoor light.
For strictly indoor lights, I actually prefer lights that come on in Low. If a light always comes on Low, then I can use it late at night without disturbing others and without dazzling my eyes and losing dark-adapted vision or having trouble getting back to sleep.
For hand held lights, I don't really want anything more complex than two levels. For headlamps, the more levels the better so far as I'm concerned.
And many of my favorite LED lights are still single-level: they still work fine, are quite reliable, and I still use them a lot. (My Streamlight 4AA PP Luxes, for example - awesome 'bang for your buck' lights that will outperform plenty of more expensive lights.)
