Does anyone regularly EDC a Rescue Hook or V-Cutter as part of their load out? I'm primarily thinking about on your person or in a bag that is usually on your person. I keep a Houdini Pro in the car for emergencies and know a lot of people who have some form of breaker/cutter in their vehicles.

I've been carrying a Benchmade 5 hook in a nylon pouch on my belt when not carrying my Benchmade Triage.

I have yet to use the hook in an emergency although it has come in handy for removing gauze wrappings and cutting cord.

Anyone else carry one? Why do you carry it and what have you used it for?

I have one on SOG SS Powerlock and LmOHT. I use them for everything but for what they are made for. Mainly zipties and wire stripper.

does the cutting hook on the Charge SE blade count?

I've never had to use it in an emergency (thankfully), but like you both have said, it comes in handy for plenty of other tasks. :)

I think it qualifies :).

I'd be hesitant to use it in an emergency application as it means exposing the serrated blade on the backside. Could get in the way. That being said, it's better than nothing in a pinch.

Had to look that one up. Interesting looking rescue knife. Definitely had not seen it before.

I very often carry a CRKT KERT, use it a lot to cut packing twine when packing newspapers at work.

my thoughts exactly. you'd have to be more careful with it, but I think it could still get the job done.

Nice :tu:. Glad to see some love for the Benchmade hooks. They are nice pieces of kit. The 5 is pretty much the perfect size for carry as it disappears in a bag or on the belt. I would love to see Benchmade make a version with the carbide glass breaker similar to their 8Med model.
