DIY pocket hanger
on: March 25, 2014, 12:23:37 PM
Found a busted stainless jubilee clip in the car park at work.  Perfect material for a pocket hanger for my Deluxe Modeler Plus!  a little cutting, filing bending and drilling later:

 :tu:

Could be a little tidier and I need to swap the split rings but it'll do for now.

Never thought of those clips for reuse like that. Nice one!

I want to make one since no P7 clips here. What is a Jubilee clip anyway?
You gave me an idea. I might use a money clip or a tie clip.

Lost me there too. We always called that a hose clamp.
Nice job on the clip!

Yep, like that.  AKA band clamp or hose clamp.  The one I found didn't have the notches for the worm drive all the way round though.

I bought a dozen of coffee spoons for €1, waiting to get some time to turn these into pocket clips.

That's it. We have a couple of espresso spoons. I'll steal one from the kitchen drawer. How did you cut the spoon from the handle DTT? Bending back and forth? Dremmel?

Cut it with the Surge's metal saw then used the file to smooth it out.
Sak metal saw will work too.

Of course! How silly of me to ask. Now it's the time to see which metal saw us better, the Surge's or the Vic's!

Thanks!  I like the steampunk looks of the beaten up old fork.

I'm ashamed to say I didn't us my SAK to make this though - it's easier to grab tools from the workshop.  I must get into the habit of using the SAK for jobs like this.

I'm really liking the suspension clip carry method. Keeps my SAK vertical in my pocket making it rather comfortable to carry even thicker SAKs. Haven't carried a pouch since using a suspension clip.

After seeing all you guys making your own I need to make one from something unorthodox and unique.

Nice. :tu:

I did a few some time ago out of metal saw blades. They are still holding up great and I've had one on my house keys for a year and a half now.

Here's the old thread from back then.

I played a bit with a blow torch today ...

The fork was shiny. I used a set of torches to heat it up. Got it cherry red then dropped it in some water.

How about this, made out of an Espresso spoon?
The Surge's saw cut it easily and I formed it with the Surge and Swisstool combined. I forgot to protect the metal from the jaws' bites and there are marks. I suppose the Dremel can fix that.

I just made one from an espresso spoon as well. Says Illy and Inox 18/10 on it.
Get some pics once there's some day light.

Shaping it with a C clamp and drilling a hole through it were kind of a B...

Pocket hanger 2.0:

A lot tidier than the first one but a little short.  Too small for the Deluxe Modeler Plus but would be fine with a smaller knife.

Thanks!  I assumed it's what kkokkolis had done on this one:

(Image removed from quote.)

Looked neater than using two split rings to get the knife to sit flat in my pocket.
