need space

I'm going to mod my 400 as I mentioned by adding the file from a 600 which I may have to shorten, what I need to know is what do I use as spacers I the ones from the 600 do not work.

You could just use washers if you can find the right inside diameter of the washer. It's not essential that the Gerber-specific spacers be used since their main function is to prevent clumping.

Lesser expert Bob here. I've never tried swapping spacers between a 400 and a 600. And I'm away from home right now and not able to check for myself.

What is it about the two spacers that doesn't interchange? Are the little tabs not positioned the same?

Bob I plan to swap tools of different thickness, replacing 400 can opener with still to be modified 600 file,I figure I will need new spacers to make up the difference, I have not yet taken one apart.

Ahhh, I understand what you mean now sixgun.

You will want to reassemble the tool making sure to place a tabbed spacer between each blade (just like there is now) to prevent clumping. To take up any extra space, you'll have to find some thin washers. Is there a hardware store in your area where you could look for some?

just throwing an idea while i dont know the inside diameter the shims gotta have, but on mountain cycle brakes, theres very thin spacers between frame and caliber,to adjust the caliper symmetricaly over disc.they are availeable from local better mtb shop.
