Wenger RangerGrip 88 Rescue with od green scales (Godzilla!)

I hadn't been too crazy about my rangergrip 88 orange scales, so I decided to swap them with my recently acquired rangergrip 178, and I like the look much better. I did have to make the hole on the scale for the bits (which you can do for any ranger. All models have the bit slot on the liner as far as I'm concerned) , but it proved to be quite easy. I'll most likely make custom g10 scales (textured a la cuscadi) to slim it down, but for now I like the Godzilla look.

Haha! Nice to see that my very simple "Godzilla" mod has been well received. That od green look seems gives the knife a much more "serious" vibe.  These "big Wengers" are pretty capable knives. I had to order this one online from a store in the Czech republic (since you only get it in the Eastern European market), but it was well worth it. If I find myself not using the pliers all that much, I might (and it's a big "might") mod it, and turn it into a better version of a rangergrip 86 (east ranger), which means I'd take the pliers out (making the knife half as wide) and leave all the rest as it is (the ranger 86 has a corkscrew, instead of the Mike Horn awl). First though, I'll make some thinner custom scales (most likely green  :D) to make the grip more comfortable (the scales, though nicely contoured, make the bigger rangers too thick in the middle. Holding the knife without the scales makes this very evident).
