Quote from: DaveK on June 12, 2008, 02:41:47 AMWell I just got the confirmation mail from Cabela's - so it looks like you can add Cabela's Legacy PST to the list too I looked and they're not advertising it now and searching for the catalog number returns "Item no longer available". Maybe I got the last one? Let us know how you like it

I wasn't a mod then, so I could be as clumsy as I liked.
That's purdy!
To commemorate Cabela's 45th anniversary and our long-standing partnership with Leatherman, we're giving you a chance to own this limited-edition, numbered Leatherman PST® – the multi-tool that started it all. In 1984, Cabela's became the launch site for the multi-tool market when Jim Cabela signed the very first purchase order for a shipment of Leatherman PST tools. Although the PST has been out of production for a few years, Leatherman broke out the original dies to craft 500 of these classic tools. Each is inlayed with the handsome Cabela's Legacy logo in 24-kt. gold, numbered and packaged in a leather display box with a certificate of authenticity. Like the originals, these include a spey-point blade, awl, large and small standard screwdrivers, Phillips screwdriver, file and bottle opener.

Do you know - I'm a little disappointed with it.Cabela's 'Product Description' reads like this:Quote from: Cabela'sTo commemorate Cabela's 45th anniversary and our long-standing partnership with Leatherman, we're giving you a chance to own this limited-edition, numbered Leatherman PST® – the multi-tool that started it all. Now when I read that originally, I thought they meant that the 500 tools would be made from the original dies, but they ain't, they're a bit of a hybrid, and clearly have been assembled from parts that LTG had lying around! I'll try and post up a proper comparison over the weekend, but the things I noticed immediately are:- One handle is dated 0804, the other 1004- The plier heads are more akin to the 2003 Pulse (stamped Tool - not USA), than the PST pliers.- The numbers and the Cabela's and Legacy logos, appear to have been stuck on rather than "inlayed in 24-kt gold" - i.e. they feel raised like a sticker would.Still, it's not like I bought it to fix the car with or anything, and it does look nice in that display box
Like the originals, these include a spey-point blade.....
Does look nice though . Cant wait to try it out on barbed wire Dunc

I've a few of the older 108mm ones. The only OH SAKs I have left are my Swiss B+ and a Rescue Tool and I'm planning on getting rid of the RT as well. Nothing wrong with it but with UK carry laws being what they are, I figure I'm better off with something less knife like for the car. I'll certainly bring a selection of the more unusual SAKs I have.Neil
You said your planing on getting rid of it ? do you have a buyer or trader ? Dunc

No problem. <looks through pile of broken Vic. Classics> Neil
Who would have known that he actually wasn't joking.
