@sawman,

Don't be ashamed :) I guess my email just got buried among a lot more like mine, lol. And two brand new ones would be a little too much :D

I'm actually wondering if to write to them again  Even if I don't send it, they could've replied... Maybe they lost my e-mail. I wrote them on 14th, tomorrow it will be one week.

I had a similar problem a while back. I even wrote on their Facebook page but still got ignored. A member here wrote to a LM representative about it or something. Still I had to pay 25 euros to the local dealer to get a squirt replaced. Not 100% sure on the details. Basically the LM service quality will depend on which country you are in.

Every time I find something wrong on anything, I freak out even though it doesn't really matter. For example, if my bottle opener broke on a SAK I would go crazy even though I never use it.

I've send another e-mail to Leatherma, so we'll see... The first one I sent on 14th, no reply.

When I had a problem with an order on their website, I was a bit put off to the fact they seemed clueless as to where my order was. As I recall though, they did call me back at one point to give me an update. I suppose U.S. residents are the only ones that get decent communication with LM.

This is irritating and it bothers me since the money you paid plus the excitement you had for these tools.  I sure hope they contact you this time.  It shouldn't be a big deal its the flipping internet.

Tanks guys :)

I've put my other Juice for sale, though  I hope I get rid of it. I'd rather  not have a Juice at all than have them fall apart one by one. I wasn't impress that much by the quality and loose scissors of the Xe6, so.... despite all the excitement (indeed), I'd rather get my money back (hopefully, but who knows).

Okay, I finally got a reply from LM.... She said they didn't repair these tools because they were riveted... but she asked where I was from ... Maybe now she'll redirect me to some local dealer or sth. (perhaps the one that I have bad experience with)....... who knows. We'll see.

That really pisses me off. Tell them to replace it then.  :twak: Sorry to hear they are giving you a hard time.

To butt in here as a recent purchaser of an old model Juice (and a 2014 model refusenik)  I think the problem is we do not want the new model as a replacement.  Some day soon there will be no LM inventory of the old model but (I predict) a huge inventory of not selling new models.   That spells old model replacement gloom for years to come.

That is a valid concern, but they should have stock of the old style juice I would think. Even if they do not i'm sure they can fix a riveted model at the Oregon plant. Maybe they just don't have the tools to do it in another country.

Hmmm... guys, you must be both right.... Perhaps they'd have offered me a replacement, indeed, but I don't want it... so they can't. Now you're making me think they might ask our BG guys if they don't have the old Juice... to send me and I send them the broken one **crazy**

Yep, LM US asked me to contact that very BG dealer with whom I had trouble two years ago.

I told them that I wasn't contacting that jerk again (well, I was more polite, hehe) and that I'd just keep the broken tool.

I guess that'll be it for this thread.

Hey :) I'm not even that upset. I don't use the driver, it's just... annoying that these things are SO expensive for our standards and they break. I could've paid my monthly bills for a month with the price of that tool.

I would keep sending e-mails until you get what you wan't. If your not completely opposed to it I would take a newer model as a replacement as well. Don't let them just give you the run around.

Did you e-mail the USA office? If not I would e-mail them and let them know what is going on. If your original e-mails were with the USA office I would e-mail them again and let them know about your disappointment and inconvenience and politely ask what they intend to do to fix it.

Yes, I've been using the e-mail on leatherman.com's contact page, so that is LM in the USA.

I guess I'm just making things unnecessarily complicated, though... I am not opposed to the not working driver, but I am opposed to the new version of the tool, lol. That's why I rushed and bought an S2 and an Xe6, because I love the old models, didn't have any and once I saw the new ones, I got scared :ahhh

They did do a great job with the customer service before, don't know what's wrong now. But I had a different person "dealing" with me, before, too. I think her name was Rachele Avolio,... hopefully I wrote it correctly. Now I have another lady there.

I understand them not being able to (voluntarily) do warranty work on the Juice line because of the rivets. If they offered to replace it with a new model and you did not wan't to do that then I can not fault them for that.

Hope it works out for you with whatever you decide to do with the tool.

Yep, I don't blame them either. I wanted/want the old design. I'm just annoyed at destiny maybe, lol, for sending me exactly the one that would break :D It just came not in the wrong time, but in the wrong place, lol

I hate to keep saying it but if you'd get a Wave you'd probably never have a problem with it. It may not be as pretty as a Juice but it works! :salute:

All of these problems is why Leatherman should come out with a legacy style version of the Juice.  They should get the weight well down under 4 oz and quietly slip in the line while the current disaster Juice is still twisting in the wind.

My appeal for a large Micra is here:
http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,52958.0.html

Then they can try to fix the Juice line.   Put it on a diet.  Make it durable.  Actually, I'm not convinced that extra scale approach is right.  Just adds complexity and needless thickness and weight.    Ditch it, don't fix it.   If externally accessible tools are needed in the Juice size range, miniturize the Sidekick, Wingman or Wave design.

I'm on the Legacy Juice Size MT bandwagon as well but can live with 4 ounces.  Better to build a solid little performer (think Micra) than to build to a weight target.  Aim for a goal of 4 ounces but I can live with 4.389408 ounces of maintenance free performance.

That doesn't get my vote.  More and more jurisdictions are not OK with locking blades and all these have external liner lock blades.

The old Juice is nearly right.  The undisclosed longer small driver of the new Juice IMO solves the plier jamming susceptibility.  Replace the rivets with Torx making it repairable and I think we're there.

When in doubt, a SAK and a pair of pliers. That is the lowest common denominator in the multi world that doesn't go into values of suck and SAKs are pretty ok in the eyes of the law. I know you want a multi, but if locking is an issue.... *sighs* I've said it a hundred times, LM has something with the Juice, but they turned it in to the something not quite there rather than taking Victorinox's lunch money with something really, really good.

Other than Vic, are there any European multitool makers?

Wouldn't be my first choice either because in the 4oz and lower category, the tool is a companion to my EDC single blade knife, and not my primary knife option.  So, I would vastly prefer a cleaner, lighter, thinner and more durable classic legacy style tool in this size class, even if it means opening it to get to a small pen blade (which is all I need on a tool this size).

But, I wonder how many people there are like me, who pocket carry both a largish EDC folding knife and a small mini MT?   I suspect there are people who want the fast, convenient SAK type of pocket access to a knife blade in a single tool, which is the appeal of external blades.  I get it, which is why I carry my Wave when doing shop work and not my Blast.  If I need to cut open a bag of disgusting fertilizer, I use the Wave and it's in and out just like that and not a 15 minute process like it is with the Blast.  Ok.. so I exaggerate.

This is my EDC combo.  I could handle a pocket sized MT that is a just a bit bigger than this.   RHP gets the knife and loose change.  LHP gets the small MT and money clip.

The current and old Juice are just stinkin' wide.   Thin is in.
