Goriest films ever?
on: June 13, 2008, 10:48:49 PM
I have been watching a few of my horror films recently and it got me thinking, what are the most goriest films out there?

For me, it would be The hills have eyes 2 or Evil dead 2.  Both have an emmense amount of gore, which is great IMO  :D.

Any other suggestions?
I'm back!!

Hmm, I don't really do horror film's, but I though 'Saving Private Ryan' had a good gore factor, and seemed pretty realistic :)

Although sadly they didn't kill Matt Damon in the film

Don't know if it fits your view of gore, but Battle Royale isn't one for the faint of heart :o

Yeah I've got that.  Superb film and it is a gorefest, but nothing compared to Evil dead 2 or The hills have eyes 2.  Those are just unbelievable.

Easily :D, the guys a total fraud, see's a cheap low budget film with a half decent story line, and throws a ton of money at it, et viola blockbuster ::). the only decent film he done in my opinion is Pulp Fiction, and thats only coz Mace Windu's in it, bruce willis get's punched in the face a lot, and John Travolta get's killed >:D

Man Bites Dog. It's a Belgian black-comedy about documentary crew following around a spree killer. I first heard about it when I was a teenager and always wanted to see it but never found a place to rent it until a few months ago. It was horrible, the humor just didn't hit it for me and there was just too much gore/violence.  :-X

The Saw series of movies is pretty good for well-done gore but they naturally go downhill from the first one. Zombie movies are also pretty good for this; Day of the Dead, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead and Dawn of the Dead 2004 have more of a campy gore vibe but I think it's funny when used properly.

By and large I prefer less on-screen gore, but that's just me. Some of the girl friends I have had seem to love seeing things that make me cringe.  ???

Gore's all well and good, but I'm old and prefere a bit of a story behind it :)

Most of my favourite film's have hardly any gore  :-\, allthough in my all time favourite film the lead actor actually died ::)

Never seen Evil Dead :(

My fav film's The Crow :)

The original Crow is an awesome movie really love it ;)

As for gore Wrong Turn 2 Dead End is pretty gory 1st 3 minutes a girl is split into 2 pieces and 2 cannibals carry her off a leg apiece.

Also like all the Evil Dead movies but my fav of the 3 is Army of Darkness :D

And if clowns freak you out a bit Dead Clowns is a bit gory as well.  The list could go on forever there are a ton of gore flicks out there :o

Goriest ever I really don't even care for them is the Faces of Death movies it actually has footage of real deaths :(

the opening sequence of ghost ship where the crews and guest of the ship got slice by a thin wire still gives me nightmare.

I like the two Evil Dead movies- the camerawork alone is worth the viewing. Bruce Campbell is one of my favorite actors. It's unfair to be so ruggedly handsome AND be a pretty good actor and comedian as well (his attacks on himself in the ED movies are a hoot!).

I can't recall the titles and I hated the films, but there used to be a kind of fad for Mondo movies in the 70's. One Italian film concerned a group of people being taken captive by tribesmen in the South American rainforest. The film had both "special effects" scenes and real shots of the tribesmen indulging in contests of bravery by doing things to themselves and others, including a scene involving a woman which I will not disclose here for fear children may be visiting. I have rarely seen such a disturbing and disgusting film in my life. The real shots of them eating live creatures left me nauseous for days! :o It taught me to be more careful of what I rent in the video shop.

Still, gore can be a bit fun, like Re-Animator and Return of the Living Dead...

I'm not up on the current gore flicks but what sticks out in my mind was John Carpenters "The Thing" with
Kurt Russell, blood and guts on snow really sticks out, even if it's ketchup :ahhh
judge others by how they treat those they are allowed to mistreat

I tend to side with Mike when it comes to Tarantino.    He is heavy on gore though.   The last 45 minutes of From Dusk 'til Dawn is solid bloodslinging beside a little Selma thrown in for good measure.

Evil Dead is still one of the best horror movies I've seen.

IMO, RoboCop is quite special in that regard.

-When that geeky exec. gets "swiss cheesed" by ED-209.
-When Murphy gets slaughtered.
-When Emil (Paul McCrane) gets hit by Boddicker's car near the end.

Great stuff!  :D

The Alien movies are also... "special."  :P

The film"An Inconvenient Truth",,,,,it has AL GORE!!!  ::)

I couldn't resist :pok:

Some run from breaks of ice, and answer none:
And some condemned for a fault alone." -William Shakespeare, King Lear (1608), Act IV, scene 6, line 169

Doesn't bother me to see lots of gore, if it's inherently a part of the movie.

War movies, violent westerns, Sam Peckinpah-style shoot-em-ups, Hannibal Lecter-style thrillers, and Mafia flicks - those all have blood and gore as a necessary part of the plot.

Vampire flicks, zombie flicks, most Tarantino flicks - they just don't do much for me anymore.  I'll admit to having seen a fair amount of them, but anymore I won't go to see one at the theater or even rent the DVDs for the most part.

They've just become boring to me.
