Has anybody seen this yet? It comes from SwissBianco. He is selling them online. Neat idea. Door handles or maybe drawer pulls.
...

Its quite a novel/fun idea but I think $26USD delivered (in the US) per knob is a bit pricey personally   :-\
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I was thinking it would a good way to put all my old red scales to good use. They look easy to make.

What kind of paper are those handles wrapped in?  Might be worth more than the pulls!

Hi all,

I'm the new guy, but hardly new to Swiss Army Knives. I thought I'd stop by and show off my latest SAK rescaling. The subject was my long time favorite outdoor SAK, the Victorinox Huntsman. I had done a Huntsman in white paper Micarta years ago, but always wished that I'd used green canvas Micarta. There's just something extremely cool about canvas Micarta. Wickedly tough stuff, and quite a challenge to work with. Well, I finally had some free time over the weekend, and made my dream come true. I did make the slot for the tweezers, but didn't bother with the toothpick, as I've never successfully used the toothpick. A fresh slice of green paracord adds the final touch.

A couple of old rescaling projects from years ago, done in white paper Micarta and red linen Micarta:

I hadn't done a SAK mod in ages so, last week ,I had a sift through my 'bits' tins and decided to put together this.  Now I'm pretty sure this was done as a standard Vic model, but rare, and has no name that I can recall.  Still it struck me as a good tool selection for the more urban of us (an urbanised Camper if you will).  Fun to make and good to know I haven't lost the knack.  :D

A Clipper eh?  Good man Neil.

I may have forgotten to add the scale tools, yes. :-[  Actually these were the first set of scales I grabbed to throw on, as you may remember I'm just not a fan of the light Sapphire.  I'll need to go digging to see if I have something more to my taste to put on.

I love all these rescales!  Taninaree's wood is stately, but man...I love that Micarta!  Green canvas micarta is such a neat-looking material in real life, pics don't really do it justice.

Hrm...now that I have an actual band saw...hrm hrm...

Well I'm not sure.  I made up an 84mm mod a while back (blade, combo tool, corkscrew, saw and scissors) and TBH I've almost never used or carried the thing. :-\  So I'm thinking about pulling it apart and doing something else, trouble is that I've absolutely no idea what. ::) :D

Don't let those 84mm scissors go to waste  :ahhh

I'm sure if you did an Alox number with them you could sell it in a flash  :tu:

Shan't go to waste, honest. :D    The problem is that I don't find the 84mm size a great advantage when made up into a 3 layer, or more, SAK.  So a Sportsman or Tourist I much prefer to a Spartan,  a Golfer to a Compact etc.  But that doesn't hold true to with thicker SAKs.

Awlsome Executive
Reply #1405 on: November 04, 2010, 07:37:47 PM
You could barely call this a mod, but I though I'd share anyways :D   My new favorite SAK is the Executive, but I miss having an awl (my old favorite was the Soldier). By happy coincidence, I never use the small blade, so I though, what the heck, why not make it into an awl. The flat edge works great as a scraper too, and I've been using it to open boxes so the main blade doesn't get gunky.

OK so these barely count as mods but I thought I may as well show them somewhere.  Fist up is my Forrester with lovely new red scales, I've nothing particular against the standard black, but I think the red looks slightly friendlier.  :D

Next up is my Pygmy Huntsman (or 84mm Huntsman Small'n'Slim if you prefer) that I was talking about earlier on this page.  Seems the thing it needs to make it stand out from it's bigger brother is a new set of white scales. :)

Ta muchly to Neil for supplying the scales.
