Looking for a AAA keychain flashlight
on: December 03, 2015, 08:30:35 AM
Currently in the market for a keychain flashlight.

Features:
- Single AAA battery (Eneloop)
- Be able to attach to a keyring.
- Button to power on/off, no twisting.
- Not needed, but prefer a single mode.
- A finish that won't fade.

Any recommendations? I would prefer something around the 80-120 lumens range. I don't need a long battery life.

Many of the cheapo chinese lights fit that profile and can be had for a few bucks.
Maybe one of the Tank007 lights.

What's your price range?

Most will be "twisties"
The  Tank007 E10 would do, but it has a pocket clip and 3 modes.

Olight, Fenix etc. make a few but they are twisties, from what I remember

Guess I could make an exception for twisties. Budget is around $50.

Fenix E05  (the new are multimode, I think)

With U$50 you could get a  Thorfire PF01 and 03 (both AAA clickys), a Lumintop Tool or a UltraTac K18. Lumapower also has a AAA clicky. From these only the PF01 can be aquired with 1 mode driver the others are 2-3 modes.

There's still the Fenix/Leatherman Serac S2, you could get two for that price.  >.>

I did state I have a budget $50, but obviously, the cheaper the better.

Here are a few options I've found:
- Olight i3S | $19.95
- ThruNite Ti3 | $19.95
- Fenix E05 | $20.20
- ThruNite T10 | $23.95
- Fenix LD02 | $29.95
- Fenix E99 Ti | $32.99
- Maratac Titanium AAA Rev 3 | $44.99

All are found on Amazon except for the Maratac. The Maratac is on Massdrop for $45, compared to the original $65.

Anyone have any personal experience with these and can tell me which is the brightest? I prefer flood over throw, but if they're bright in both, even better.

The new Olight i3E from their website for 13.99$ (so you probably can get it even cheaper) with 120 lumen and quality lens. :salute:

Oh and in black it is only 9.99$ (with 90 lumen)

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Wife's EDC, Coast G10. 32lum. Not the best but cheap and simple, no twist no modes, just on/off button.
EDC: Black Talon, Black Cat, Spirit, LD02

I'd also recommend looking at the Hugsby XP-1.  I DID have one, but then my wife saw it.....  Given it's ridiculously low price, if buying direct from China, I was willing to give it a go and was very pleasantly surprised.

Did no-one mention the Streamlight Microstream?  I've not got one, but it's one of the most popular 1xAAA lights out there and fits the criteria.
