:twak:  Same to you!  No wonder we split.....  ;)  A rainy Independence Day here, but a lot still going on.  Heading to Morristown in a bit, there's a ceremony on the Green at noon.  Morristown was the winter quarters of the Continental Army twice, and this whole area was part of the AO in what was known as the Forage War in 1777.  Revolutionary history?  Yep, we've got it here.  :)  My town's fireworks display has been postponed,  :( but there just might be a small local display on the street here later.....  ::)  Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans, and to all the Commonwealth subjects here, get back to work!  :P

There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

Happy Independence Day to our revolting colonial cousins!

From 'History of the World Part 1'
Count De Monet: Sir, the peasants are revolting.
King Louis: You said it. They stink on ice.

On a more... or less... serious matters. Be safe out there today, and remember to never mix fireworks and dachshunds.

Happy 4th of July.  It's a gorgeous day here in California and as planned I got 2 racks of St Luis cut ribs getting ready to get a good rub down.  I'll try the A1 rub on one and my own blend on the other.  Smashed red potatoes with garlic, grilled crimini's and squash, and honey drizzled berries with whipped cream all on the menu.  I'm sure along the way I'll add something just not sure what.  Be safe

Happy 4th everyone! Stay safe.

All of my fingers are still attached at the moment.  :)  Of course, that's because fireworks are illegal in New Jersey.  I would never have them in my possession, thus never being at risk for blowing a digit off......  ::)  However, 20 minutes west of here in PA, with a Jersey license you can buy stuff that looks to be equal to a Scud missile.....

Even the "safe and sane" fireworks as they call then can be dangerous.

A friend of my fathers was having fun with the family on the 4th and they were lighting off a fountain (like the one below) and before it started to go off his very young son ran over and picked it up and had the thing pointed directly at his face.  :o The kids father ran over and grabbed the firework with one hand from the top blocking the flames and just as he does this the firework starts to go off and literally melted two of his fingers together. He had to get them cut apart at the hospital.   :( It's all fun and games until you turn away from your kid for one second and get your fingers melted together.  :D

With all that said I love the 4th for many reasons including the fireworks. I love mortars and all the "not safe" fireworks they don't let us get around here. Who wouldn't wan't to blow smurf up!  >:D

The A1 rub was good, not too salty and not overly sweet with the right amount of mesquite flavor.  I'll use more on the meat next time tho but with all pre made rubs I'll add a dash of two of ingredients to bolster the flavors.  I like Cumin, smokey paprika, herbs, and a bit of garlic powder as well as a few other things.  Over all it was good but I'm always trying to improve my ribs.  They were great and tender as all heck, the bones just slid right out and the meat was juicy.

I'm planning to do some ribs soon so that's good to know. I'll give it a try, thanks :tu:
