A pulse jet wouldn't be my first choice, all that vibration would make maintanence a nightmare

No what you need is to mount it on a recumbent , now that would be FAST

My only thought for an "improved" version would be to strap a second pulse jet on the opposite side of the bike....so as to equalize the thrust of course. Any additional top speed would be an added bonus.
