But still, I've been sick for almost a week and figured it wasn't really that bad, LOL.

• You drop a couple of kilos
• You spend a great deal of time chatting with nice people 
• You spend a great deal of time playing with your MTs 
• You may even clean some of them or take pictures or whatever else you didn't have time to do before
• You do some paperwork for later in advance to spare yourself the workload later and don't feel completely useless
• You don't go out -> you don't go shopping -> you save money -> you buy MTs or lights
• Watch some nice shows/stuff you didn't have time to do before
• Sllleeep a llllot

Anything else, anyone?

When you are single and sick...not so good. 

When you have little kids and are sick...not so good either   Really, though, I look at being sick as a forced vacation.  Being forced to slow down once in a while is good for me.

I rarely get sick, but a few weeks back I came down with something.  Mostly just a fever, but work prefers us to stay home with a fever.  I didn't feel too bad during that one, and actually did enjoy the daytime for a couple days at home alone as my wife still worked, and the baby was taken where she normally goes during the day.  However, it wasn't as fun once everyone got home in the evening.

I do echo the fact of having a small child (in my case a 16 month old toddler ) while being sick is not ideal.  I recently got sick a couple weeks back, only this time it was worse, as in stomach not feeling too well.  I was the last to catch it between the baby, then wife.  Between those two, they were sick from the early week until I caught it at the end.  I didn't miss any work in this case as I got sick late in the day just before leaving work for the weekend.  Fortunately, it seemed to be a 24 hour bug as I felt fine by supper time the next day.

When you are alone...you need to rely on yourself. I can recall a few times being so sick I couldn't even depend on myself to do things for myself. Time like that I wish I had someone to pick up the slack.

But I think we can all agree that being sick is never pleasant no matter our circumstances.

I think it sucks either way.

I am married, but when I get a migraine, my wife seems upset that I am sick, 

I tell her, "I am going to lay down, I have a migraine" 
and she huffs, and says OOKAYYYY.

I get the feeling she thinks I am being dramatic (what she calls it).  she has said many times,  "When I get a head ache, I take an asprin and keep going.

I get so frustrated because I know she does not understand what I am dealing with.  she would be a horrible nurse.  My wife is NEVER sick, no flu, no cold, a headache once a year (very mild, one asprin and all better)

Last time I got really sick, absessed tooth. Basically all I did was sweat and have fever dreams and I know it was only for 24 hours for the worst of it but it felt like a week due to sleeping and waking up and grabbing a cold shower because I felt nasty and repeating. But the feeling of the antibiotics kicking in when I could finally get into see the doc, amazing... in three hours I felt human.

Time before that... 2001, pneumonia that started as bronchitis. Lost 30 pounds in two weeks, lost my summer job just before I was going to quit it, and it broke just before the college semester started. I looked so bad that people were asking me if I had cancer. Got the wait back. It brought friends. And I still don't have my wind back.

Detron's "story" reminded me of the situation here, though far from being the same - So that I don't worry  my mother, I try to pretend I feel better than I actually do, which is most of the time and which is quite tiring instead of me resting : /


As for having kids around, not sure how that feels - them running around, being loud, expecting you to do something for them while you can't keep your eyes open

Its pretty rough when you have young children,me and my wife juggle our jobs and kids,i do all the school runs as work 12hr night shifts and she works 12 days,neither of us can afford to be off ill as no sick pay,last time i had no choice i ended up in hospital for 1 week with urticaria and looked like john merrick    other times i had no control was when i had pneumonia and a callapsed lung ,that was another week in hospital,if ive got manflu i get the kids to school and get home and relax and sleep untill picking them back up

Whenever i visit friends/family at our local hospital there is beautiful nurses there,but when im in hospital there always there always like the matron from the carry on films
