Welcome zimchaz   I say the same thing about the alox models all the time...they need scissors :tu:
I agree, they do need scissors. I do have my Soldier with scissors, but it's in such good condition that I don't want to really use it.

Hmmmmm. Should I take it apart, drill out the rivets in my Pioneer, and add the scissors to that?

I don't worry about scissors on my Alox models since I've always got a smaller SAK on my keys.  Lately it's been my new-to-me Minichamp, but for years my Executive lived on my key ring.
I don't carry my keys so that won't work for me.  My Pioneer will need a cellidor companion.

A Classic or Rambler disappears in the pocket.  Or tuck the little guy in your wallet.  That's how I get a SAK into Devils games......   ;)
There's no such thing as "Too pretty to carry".  There's only "Too pretty NOT to carry"...... >:D

Oh just use the Soldier eh!  Unless you're able to mod them yourself?  Then by all means, do that ;)
I can't, too pretty.  I've also taken a liking to having a key ring and a paracord lanyard.

I'm strongly considering trying to do a mod.  I'd also like to have a small blade, and I have a Settler I could use to get the small blade.  The only thing is, I don't want to loose either the bottle or can opener.

Yeah, I would go with either my Classic or Compact.  The Compact has the edge with the plus scales, but the Classic has the size advantage.  The Compact offers a lot though, but then I wouldn't have much need for the Pioneer really.

I've thought I had the perfect SAK for me a couple times, but I have yet to seem to be totally satisfied.  I think I have a sickness though, and am not normal like some here who are content with what they have >:D

I know, I know, it's SAKrilege , but I can't help it. The obvious can not be denied, and the older I get, the less I need. I look back on all the knives I had bought in this life, and it's insane. I really didn't need 99% of them. In all reality, when I got that first SAK, I should have quit then. When I look back on my knife collecting, it's like I was in the grip of some sort of temporary insanity. JUst plain nuts.

Now I just carry a SAK in my pocket and it does everything a pocket knife should do, plus much more. And if it's alox, then theres bonus points! :tu:

Oh no I agree with you. I buy knives and multi tools because they are cheaper to collect then guns.

Now I try and just have one gun. Well one precision bolt rifle, one defensive pistol, one AR you get the idea.

And you know what they say about the man with only one gun.

Oh yes, I'd miss the scale tools. The tweezer is so useful, so there's a little classic on my keyring that I can never leave the house without. The alox goes in my pocket. So I always have the classic on the keys, and whatever larger SAK is the day's edc.

I prefer to have the scale tools, and the straight pin on the 91mm plus scales, so that makes alox tougher for me to want to carry.  However, I don't use them that regularly, but sometimes someone else needs the pin or tweezers.  Scissors are more of a necessity though.  If my Pioneer had scissors, I would be more likely to carry it more.  Of course, I can pair it with a multi with scissors on normal days, but days when I'm in gym shorts and can only carry a SAK, I'd have to say the Compact or Rogueneer would get carried.  I really want to carry the alox though, but it's just not fully equipped for my typical needs.

This tends to be my experience too. I love Alox, the look, the feel, the stouter blade, but I have to have the scale tools (including the corkscrew and mini sd) If they made a Pioneer frame knife with a corkscrew I would happily carry it along with a classic on my keys. As you can see from my avatar my got to SAK combo is a Tourist with an Alox electrician. Some redundancy, but not too bad in all honesty. However, I also love traditional slip joints, so sometimes the Alox sits at home, which is just a shame!

You can always get a Classic to complement Alox. It gives you the scisors and TT, plus a small blade and nailfile.

True, but I don't get along with the 58mm saks. Way to small. They are nice. But don't work for me and my big hands. The Wengers are a little better. But not much.
