Sorry to disappoint, but you aren't going to find any faults with it.It does exactly what it says on the tin, it's big, bad and ugly. There's no compromise on function to make it look pretty or for gimmicks - it just works.I use mine a hell of a lot - mostly in the garden. You might want to consider getting the removable bit driver too, which connects to the cross-point screwdriver. There ain't much you aren't going to be able to handle then. You'll like it
I'm at work atm - so can't check the blade length, but it is a bit of a monster. It's very much in the style of the Kick, Fuse and Blast blades, as opposed to the Wave / Charge blades. The serrated blade on the core is a very scary tool indeed. Cuts through marine quality 3-ply rope like the proverbial hot knife through butter.I haven't found a branch or plant in my garden yet that's fair competition for the saw, and the screw drivers are all hollow-ground and the sizes are well thought out too.I know some may see this as sacrilege, but IMO if it had scissors, it would blow the Surge out of the water. If there's one down-side, it's the lack of the diamond file (it has something a bit more heavy duty), but I rarely use the file, so that doesn't concern me.
i think its ome mean tool with no fancy gimmicks, just go,no show.
I'll actually be bringing one along to the meet (in fact I'll be bringing all my sheaths) so you can have a look-see then if you like.
You know my opinions on the Core Mike, its a damn good tool. About the sheaths, I have a Nylon and a Leather one (as I have a backup Core). The Nylon one is very wide and the leather one is just like the Blast's. I think the Nylon one looks the better out the two, but it is very big! Expect the tool to come very close to the Swisstool, but not on the pouches side of things
Would a Core fit in a Swisstool pouch?

Right.... I have tried the Core in 2 Swisstool Nylon pouches and on one of the pouches it just doesn't fit in, but the other it does manage to just slide in. With the Leather pouches it is an extremely tight fit. You could probably fit it in one that has stretched a little, but overall, it is too tight of a fit.
