SAK alox mod

Would this work? Would it be desirable from an ergonomic/aesthetic/functional point of view?

So to give an example:

2 layer SAK

Knife blade opens on one side of the alox handles

Scissors open on the other side of the alox handles (i.e. the scissors spring is on the same side as the knife blade).

Anything's "possible", but this would need at least a custom made thick centre liner that the outer scales went each side of and the pivot pins screw into from the outsides.

It wouldn't work with stock parts as it, as the pivot hole isnt equidistant from the edges. The only benefit I can see is that it would allow some configurations where the nail nick is blocked.

I was thinking along different lines. I mocked up a 58mm SAK in CAD but enlarged to fit 91mm tools. It ended up having to be pretty wide to accommodate the bigger tools, but it would be a fun project just to see how it feels when together. I liked the idea since I could make frames ( scales and springs ) then do conversion to regular 91mm SAKs to make slimmer 58mm style ones.

Yes, I hadn't thought of the equidistant issue, and that would cause problems if you were trying to have tools on both sides opening from the same end. I suppose one way to avoid that problem is to have tools on both sides, but opening from opposite ends. But then you can't have the normal two tools in one layer facing one another on either side. So extra work for no real benefit $:-\$
