Day 23, been a fiddly kind of day. As in I fiddled with my Classic while on the phone with suppliers. Also got one of those coat hangers that go over the cubicle wall. There was a plastic bag to be opened, a screw to be turned, and a fingernail to be filed.  Twas epic. Or maybe the opposite. I get the two confused.

Just had to say how it sucks I did not know about this or well, even own a SAK to participate.

Hope this happens again at some point after my Compact gets here.

Good job to all of those who were able to stick with it. Soon enough you will be back to this  :climber:

A quick update; for the most part the Golfer is covering my day-to-day needs, but I was again stumped by a couple of Phillips screws yesterday.  The more modern Combo tool found on the Compact could have covered these at a push, but the older version on my Golfer couldn't cut the mustard. :-\

Though I'm not participating in the challenge, I've been going pretty minimalist lately.  Over the past two weeks, the SAKs I've used the most have been my Rambler and Minichamp.  I'm slowly realizing just how capable these little suckers are.  The keychain SAK is always just kind of there for me, but lately I've made a conscious effort to use it, and have had absolutely no problems with tasks around the house or out and about.  :tu:

That's one of the good things with this kind of challenge: you find new ways of solving problems with less tools. It helps you think out of the box. If/when you find yourself in a situation where you don't have exactly what you need, this enances your MacGyveriness and allows you to overcome difficulties more easily.

Wow, I'm really deep and profound... Must be the coffee I just had...

Were you trying to use the scales as an extra, non 30 day challenge tool Pete?

Lol!
It fell from a latter. I was opening the blade with one hand and dropped it. Didn't help that my hands where wet and greasy. On a good note, I did get the blade open, but I lost it at that final snap.

No kidding!! I have had enough falling off or falling through things.

Tried to glue the scale back on. No go. The rings have snaped and broken and the scale has a crack it in and part of the slot for the toothpick is busted.
Gonna try to get some scales for it when payday hits.

Yeah more of a I am almost a month late I think is the issue. That and all I have are MT's and Spydercos.

Would have been super minimal challenge with just a knife, even if it is one of my favorites.

Bummer about your Compact Nate :(  That's one of the downfalls of cellidor, although you won't catch me up any ladders for long anyway :ahhh  Still, even while on the ground, all it would take is the SAK landing just right to bust a scale up good probably.  I guess that's a chance some of us take if we want the scale tools ;)

It's been fairly uneventful since last Saturday for me, other than the normal tasks like cutting open boxes/packages, and some whisker trimming.  Heck, if I didn't have a beard going, I would lose a lot of my need for the scissors I think...maybe 50%  Still want them though.

I'm still relishing having to carry my SI which I see as a 'proper' SAK what with the Alox scales and pure utility, but I really REALLY miss my usual EDC with the scissors, in-line philips, T&T, woodsaw etc.

6 days and counting!

That was me Nate  :waving: - Case Scout Jr, but I bailed out LONG ago  :D Good little knife, but the whole minimalist approach was just not viable

I'm enjoying this, but I'll enjoy when its over too.  That's the best of both worlds.  I have a Wenger Evo 16 ready for me when this is over, though I don't quite get its awl with no sharp point and no sharp edge.  And the scissors are made to move up and down just little as you use them.  But otherwise a nice looking SAK.

I hear ya! While I have enjoyed this and cursed the challenge, it is not for me at all. But I do see the Compact getting some pocket time down the road. It is nice for light days. Pretty good for camping too. Providing I have my other tools for camping and bushcrafting.

Lots of package opening but nothing to challenge my Midnight Manager.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

+1  I need to add another Case or two to my collection (of 1 knife  )

I haven't had too many updates in this thread, because it's been much of the same.  Tourist is able to open mail/packages, occasional light pry job or flathead screw.  But I've had to keep dedicated pliers, scissors, and bit drivers in various rooms of the house (and the back of my Jeep) to keep up with little daily chores and prepare for what ifs.

For me, this really hasn't been too much of a struggle (I work an IT job from home), but I have missed the fun of picking and choosing what I want to carry.  I have a feeling November will bring a lot of SwissChamp/Super Tool combo days, just because :D

Leaving aside some concern that couldn't perform some task, not having all tools available, have to say that such a challenge it's very stimulating ...  >:D
And there is one less worry, which SAK to choose
