Just arrived home with a new TK10
on: July 02, 2008, 11:27:16 AM
I just arrived home from a three-day-trip to Manila. I stayed in a hotel in the newest business center, the Ortigas Center. The place is very near the ofice of Teofilo, a fellow member of this forum.

I met Teofilo for the first time, but we were like old friends who have not seen seen each other for decades. We went to several stores selling MTs, flashlights and knives and lastly we went to SOE in Makati where I bought a TK10. I was able to get a big discount because of him as he is a habitual customer in that store. Duckman also go to that store when he is in Manila.

I was so exicited with my TK10 and I took some pictures as soon as I arrived in my hotel room.

View from my hotel room window on the 20th floor. Sorry for the hazy pics because of the reflection of the white curtains on the glass.

Hi there too Donald. I will going back to Manila in August. Gene and I wish that you can be with us in August.

I'm still playing with you TK10. Will post my thoughts on it after I will be able to fully test it. I am using Sanyo CR123 battery which cost 140 pesos each here in our place. Readily available in all stores that sell camera.

Are there any rechargable ones, 140 pesos is too rich for me. Could you also take photo of different intensity of l2d and tk10 thanks

Yes Donald, I will do it when everybody is already asleep. I will just do it indoor because its raining hard here.

There are rechargeables but I don't know it it is available here in the Philippines. I still have to do some research if the TK10 can take the higher voltage of RCR123. There's also an additional expense, the RCR123 charger that we have to buy online.

Gene and I bought that charger from the CDR-King. It is a fast charger that can charge one or two NiMh at a time in 4 hours. It has 2 red pilot lights that becomes dimmer when the battery is almost full and turn off when the battery is already full.

Thanks Prime. I decided to get the TK10 instead of the P3D because it can throw much farther than the P3D.

I fall asleep ahead of everybody last night because I was so tired of travelling for half day. Fortunately I was still able to take beamshots of both L2D and TK10 at 4am this morning. The distance between the flashlight and the beamshot target is 42 feet.

Here's the beamshots you requested Donald:

L2D low

L2D medium

L2D high

L2D turbo

TK10 low

TK10 high

I think the TK10 is not ideal for pocket carry because of its size. However, it has a nice pouch for belt carry. For me the best size for pocket carry is either L1D, P1D, P2D or P3D.

Great beamshots Eddie. I've been thinking about getting a TK10 since they came out but this is the only thing keeping me away. How do you like the pocket clip.

I did not install the clip on my TK10 Prime. I will just put the two allen screws later so that dirt will not get inside the screw holes. It's not a big deal, I just don't like clips on flashlights. I also removed the clip of my 1 AAA Mini Palm and I made a turk's head knot around it.

Before I removed the clip

I agree with you Gene. The price of SF is more than twice that of Fenix.

TK10 beamshots that I took just before sunrise this morning. I was on my jogging/hiking routine so no tripod, just freehand snapshots.

No. 1 Notice the very nice spill. This was taken at around 4:30 A.M.

Ed, is it really possible that the TK10 can throw light at 250 feet?

Yes, Gene. The tree trunk in beamshot no.1 is probably more than 250 feet away.

Jock, I was planning to buy a P3D but Teofilo (Gene) convinced me to buy a TK10 instead. We were together in Manila last week when I bought that TK10 from Survival and Outdoor Equipment store (SOE).

Now I learned to love it.

I was also responsible for his flashlight addiction. Before he was only interested with MTs. Now he has 2 incurable addictions.
