victorinox parts (tweezers/tooth pick/springs etc)
on: October 09, 2014, 02:48:31 PM
I was in my local 'privately owned' hardware shop, and was told they are shutting down soon :( which is sad because these small shops are getting few and far between in my part of the world, squeezed out by large faceless yada yada yada.........(you've all heard the rants)........
anyhoooo this is one of the very few places around here that has 'stocked' Leatherman and Victorinox (and they now have some Wenger) but they have been running all their stocks (of everything) down. so I know the chap well  he recognises me as the man who comes in once in a while to drool all over his display cabinet and not buy much !
he doesn't sell much in the way of multi's nor SAKs , and not much of anything else it seems .
WELLLLL back to my story......... he has a box of springs, tweezers, mini drivers, pens , toothpicks etc. I think he has quite a good stock and his prices are well below any I've seen elsewhere (even the internet) aprox 50p each.
now I'm tempted to offer to by the lot because they are cheep  and will fetch nothing for him if he goes into liquidation, but I really don't need any spares cos I'm quite well stocked myself, would anyone be interested ?
if someone wants a few bits, the postage is going to be pretty much the same for 1 part as is for 10 !
I'm happy to act as a mule :D

Same here. I'm interested in parts for 91mm models (springs, pins) and mini drivers if he has any.

If interest is low otherwise, I might be tempted to take whatever you don´t need, given prices are smewhat sensible.

I could also use a batch of scale tools and mini drivers, but I don't know if shipping to the US is still cost effective.  If they're as cheap as it sounds, it might still be a good deal, even with shipping.  Let me know if you want to ship to the US, if you don't get more takers.

I'm interested too, also keen to know what Wenger's he's got there.
I don't claim to know it all, but what I do know is right.

Hi all an update so far~
I popped to the shop yesterday. Money being somewhat tight around here I really don't want to spend out even £10 on a little box of parts that I don't need (it would definitely be a 'life times supply' for one person).
and I have a horrible feeling I'm going to end up with all the st!t nobody else wants !
the guy was friendly enough still but I think he may have been looking up prices on the internet since my last visit, he was still willing to sell my the 'bits' at the low prices he had them marked up for BUT he was 'UMing' and 'Errring' about letting me take the lot.  he probably thinks I'm going to make a killing on Ebay  :-\

he had only 5 mini-drivers and I secured them as a job lot for Kirky (on there way mate  :salute: I'm sorry folks, he did PM me first)
the shop still has ~
tweezers (two sizes)
toothpicks
and two sizes of springs (scissors/pliers)
and pens

they are all about 50 pence each if anyone wants them and I'm willing to take orders (posting will be a simple/cheep as a 'letter' for multiple parts , sorry I'm no expert on the postal system, but that can't be a great deal of money )

i'll grab you 2 or 3 of each when I'm passing there in the next couple of days mate, a fivers worth ?
i'll hang on for a day or two to see if someone else wants anything, then i'll try and get it sorted  :tu:
as long as I have a rough idea what people want and how much they are willing to spend we can sort out Monies next week ??? (and addresses etc)

If you don't mind shipping to the US (I'll include the postage with my payment), then I would like the same order as Crow please.  Thanks!  Are there any of the straight pins?

@ Eddie
do you mean 'brass pins' or just the pins ?  that sounds like a dumb question but I think I know the answer

Just the stainless pins that insert into the scales.  I don't think I would turn down the brass pivot pins :) , but I wouldn't expect those to be stocked with the scale tools.

 :sa:
excuse my ignorance (it knows no bounds) but what's 'special' about these pins
I've only ever really seen the pin in my Swisschamp, which is long gone and has been replaced by a pin foraged from my wifes sewing box.
my ol' faithful is years old and when I've handled 'new champs' I've not bothered to check out the pin, seemed like a no-brainer as I thought they were 'just a pin' ??
I prefer a dress makers pin TBH one with a large plastic brightly coloured head

You're right, it's really just a pin.  But my wife's pins don't have the flat head (which I do like), and all seem to be either too thick or too thin (and fall out).  I could probably find a box of something that would work, but, especially for this low price, it would be nice having pins that are made to fit.

Of course, if he doesn't have them, then it doesn't really matter ;)
