I have a new torch
on: July 05, 2008, 11:44:10 PM
Got a new torch today :D Its a 3 watt Cree LED and runs on two C cells
Its made of Aluminium and while the finnish isnt exactly Surefire or Mag for that matter its still well made and once I put a little silicon grease on the threads and 'O' rings it screws together quite smoothly .It has a clickie tail cap and rather then rubber like alot of torches this is hard smooth plastic and has a good feel to it .

Its the middle one in the first pic

It comes to bits so may be of interest to modders

Heres the beem shots , I'm sorry but I'm no expert but you can see the difference .

First up is a Std 3 D cell Mag

Next is a 2X AA LED Victorinox branded Inova

And last up is the new 2X C cell Led

Quite surprised that it only cost £12

I've nothing too exciting but if anyone has a mad desire to see any of the following let me know:

Fenix: L0D, L2D
MagLite: 2AAA, 2AA, 4D, 6D (with TerraLux adapter)
LRI: Rex
Streamlight: Stylus Pro LED
Victorinox: (same as)

Thanks for the heads up on the Tesco torch.  If its not too pricey I may have to grab one, it looks good.

Neil

I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I had a silver E2e , a 9p with P90 and P91 , 6p with a P60 and P61 , a KL3 2nd gen LED head and a A2 Aviator .

Huge cars repair bill couldnt justify me keeping them  :(

They were great on the beach  >:D

I ahve to thank you Dunc it looks like you have just saved me a truck load of money. After seeing your intial post I went to my local Tesco and bought 2 for household use on the way home I was able to light the reflective strip on a traffic cone (more blasted roadworks)at about 30 feet away in broad daylight .Not bad as they are only intended for dog walking, power cuts etc
Might not need that Fenix after all
Cheers Mate

I'm sorry to hear that  :( but I do understand.

I really like the A2.

I haven't bought any since my E1B and the only thing I'm waiting for is the release of the P61L.

Just like to say thanks Dunc, I picked one up at the local Tesco earlier today and I'm very pleased with it.

I've commented before on here that I actually don't have any great need for torches and that my Maglites are plenty sufficient for the things I do with them. However, at £12 with a recommendation from yourself, I finally get to see what this Cree is all about, and I agree, it's a cracking little torch.

Cheers,
I used to come here a lot.

Gave it a further test at work the last few nights it has proved better than expected at close quarters (about 10/12 feet) it is bright enough to blind people and it gives good throw with decent side spill for area searches I ahve used sillicon grease to improve the water resistance .The only thing I ahve to do is modify the sheath with a bigger belt loop then this will be my new allrounder for work too
Cheers
