I had to grind down the miniscissors to make them 35 thou skinnier to fit the space left by the file.

neat!

Isn't the pivot end smaller than a nail file though?  Did you have to add something so it pushes the same on the backspring?

OK! Thats a Cadet I'd carry in heartbeat- I find scissors much more useful than a nailfile

Yes, I had to add a shim to enhance the spring action. I sliced it from the file itself. BTW I'm gonna mill a bed for the file on the alox scale right on top of the small flat surface used for engraving. Something like this but embedded in the alox so it's flush. Hope you guys like it.

That's a good idea. Wish Victorinox put any pair of scissors back into an Alox. If they did I'd own an Alox.

That doesn't sound practical with the skinny scales on the Cadet.  Not an issue with a Pioneer, but I think you'll bust right thru the Cadet scales.  Good luck though.

Very cool.
I've seen 58 scissors put no a 91mm as a backtool, but this is much more practical.

That is cool but wouldn't it have been better placed along an edge?

I thought about that but I wanted to get rid of the engraving plate and besides it feels very natural in that position. I guess it's a matter of taste.

Awesome!  Only asked something similar to this for the 74mm scissors in the Mod Squad forum not that long ago.  Thought something like this might work

Is that like what you did? Definitely not to any type of scale or accurateness, just sketched based on what I could see of the tools in assembled knives.

My preference would be to retain the tools as is and add in an extra layer, though it wouldn't pair up with much on the other side?

Yeap. You got that right. I added a shim to get a little more opening/closing tension. The shape of the spring is slightly different in the cadet but the principle is the same. Go for it!

I guess the beauty of screws is that you can disassemble if you ever break the scissor spring and not have to drill and re-peen pins.

What screws did you use? Off the shelf or self made?  Did you have to ream out the hole in the scissors to get them to fit?  Looks like you've got machining skills and access to the machines required to make this a lot easier.

Screws and  pivots purchased from www.knifekits.com
.125 (1/8) Pivot Barrels - (.50) - w/2-56 BHT 1/4 Screws
Every single hole including scales, can opener, bottle opener, blade, springs, has to be enlarged to 5/32 to accommodate the 1/8 pivots.
The bed for the file in the alox scale was milled with a 4-flute end mill to a depth of 55 thou on a HF X2 mini mill.
