Any recommendations?
It doesn't have to be very bright, but it needs to be cheap, reliable, small and light.

Are you looking for like 3A size, or the smaller photon like ones?

Streamlight Nano gets good reviews in that size. Comes in a few colors as well. I have one waiting in my Amazon cart at the moment, but I always have a bigger light on me so I've yet to pull the trigger.

The nano is a solid bright little light and gets my first vote. There were some issues circulating that it came apart but I put some plumbers tape on the threads and NEVER had an issue.
Second vote is Photon or Fauxton. Mine is Photon X but the simple on off version is terrific. I have mine on my keys and only one issue was sitting on the light and it being on all day and need a battery change.

I like the Photon freedom micro (programmed for auto-off after 3 minutes), or on a lower (way lower) budget a couple of Fauxtons (so if one battery is flat the other one will probably be OK).
Also buy some decent quality batteries if you buy Fauxtons (because they are cheap the batteries they come with are often low quality/partially discharged).
I give away fauxtons like lollies (along with the instruction to "Put this on your keyring, NOW" ), and get lots of feedback about how useful they are
