Leatherman Charge Deep Carry Pocket Clip Hack.

This test hack went something like this.
Heat, bash with hammer, heat, put into bucket of water.
Lightly sand it and done.

Sure it isn't very pretty but so far it works great.

I would have thought by heating it up the previously hardened S/S would have lost some of its original strength and bend on pressure. Is that not the case with this clip?

I would have thought by heating it up the previously hardened S/S would have lost some of its original strength and bend on pressure. Is that not the case with this clip? 

I probably should have done some research.
Decided to work it while hot then got a phone call so it was semi annealed.
Then heated it back to glowing and quenched it in water.
If I had spare clips I would break this one to see how the stainless hardened.
But I don't so I will see if it breaks through normal use first.
It would clean up fine, just didn't want to waste time on doing that just yet.
And if I make another I'll also make a jig to shape it with.

I started with a piece of steel (yellow handle in first pic) held in the vice but it was too sharp so swapped it out for a screwdriver (by end of hammer in first pic) which was better. I used grips to hold the hot clip over the screwdriver and hammered it out from there. Then against the back of the vice to flatten it back into shape.
