If wanted a big Wenger :sak: :multi:

SUI1-Alinghi---Yachtsman
OR
Handyman - RangerGrip 90.822

More for the collection. Will probably hardly see any battle as it looks too big and the pliers too small. Thoughts, feelings, opinions?
Eventually even McGyver got himself a Leatherman

Yes. I bought the Alinghi. Thinking about the Rangergrip 90 now.

I've never really tried to daily carry a SAK with that many layers.

Are you using it in a sheath rather than pocket carry?

I'm just being curious as I normally only carry a 93mm alox and a Minichamp for the little extras. Trying to envision what merging the two would be like.

Having a little trouble with which models you are talking about.

If it is the Wenger Handyman then yes get it while you can. I love the one I got from Lynn.

As far as being to big it is not. With the Wenger smaller size it is much easier to carry then say my Vic Explorer.

Both the Explorer and Handyman have the same number of layer but the Handyman is way thinner and of course a bit shorter.

Wenger calls 2 out of 3 models Handyman... I think he means the Ranger 90 Handyman

It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

If the pliers were hardier, that would be my EDC.  Great tool.  amazing saw, knife and the bit driver is killer.

The pliers feel weak to me.  I would hate to snap the jaws off and try to get it repaired (now).  :(

My 85mm Wenger Pocketgrip feels like stouter pliers, btw.

I don't know. Its larger than a Wave. A lot larger. But does not offer nearly as many tools.
When they are lying on top of each other, the only thing you can see from the Wave are the OHO-blades.

The Ranger 90 is a bit smaller than the Mike Horn (widthwise). In comparison to the Charge,  the blade is better, the saw is significantly better the bit driver is much better and takes standard long 1/4 inch bits and the file is about the same.  The pliers are not as good as a Leatherman.  Not even close.

No argument from me. I just wanted to point out how big the Rangers are... and they are not exactly loaded with tools.

Its amazing how much extra leverage you get from a 130mm Wenger compared to say a 91mm vic

It's all subjective. If I was out on a boat somewhere and there was a mechanical or electrical problem, out of those two I'd want to have the Wave on me. However, if lost in the woods I'd rather have the Rangergrip

I have posted this point before but the main reason they are so thick is because they have these thick and empty covers. I wonder why they do not utilise them so as to have a pen, toothpick etc in them. They do make the slimmer ranger models feel better in the hand but the bigger ones are already thick enough to be comfortable and could have done with thinner handle covers.

At the beginning of my addiction I would have said LM Wave Urban and Vic Soldier 2008 outdoors.
Now its LM Squirt PS4, CRKT KERT & Spyderco Salt PE around town and LM Mut outdoors if weight is not an issue. If I really want to be prepared I take a large survival knife.
