They do not sell the new one I want on Amazon. I was looking around and I can't really find the one I am looking for. You can sometimes find them by searching for "3rd generation" instead of the ML300 designation. I just ordered mine from BrightGuy for a good price. A few anecdotes about these two choices though... The Maglite apparently has a redesigned tube with shallower threads, which has caused trouble for some reviewers breaking under stress... On the other hand, there's a thread on CPF right now about contact problems on the Fenix's battery carrier causing the mode switch to not work correctly (Fenix is sending out replacements). So pick your poison. :-) I was facing the question of these two lights myself, and decided I'd rather have the Maglite, mostly because the Fenix would make me want to start down the rabbit hole of Eneloops and smart chargers, and I just can't afford that right now! :-D Sent from my mobile.Thank you for the info. What kind of "stress" is causing trouble for the Maglites? What sort of contact problems are affecting the Fenix?

Nice! Do you have a nice collection of lights?
Merry Christmas to you That's a shame about the limited availability of the Mag but I hope the Fenix serves you just as well. I have a cool gift coming to me tomorrow, thanks to the USPS doing Sunday deliveries. So excited

So I picked up a fenix e12 recently and it keeps craping out on me. Very disappointed with it. Seems to be the contact from body to head. Tried warranty and haven't heard anything after 2 weeks. Really thinking of getting the mag tac Plus most of the parts for the mag are made in the USA big plus for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ummmmm, excuse me if I missed something or am just plain stupid, but according to the Fenix website (the page mentioned in the link above) lists the Fenix repair center as being in Monticello, Arkansas, US. Am I missing something here?

Am I missing something here? That is not Fenix's official website. It is some sort of US counterpart, but I cannot tell if it is for dealers only. Fenix's official website has been down for at least a week. Not sure what is going on with their website.

I didn't see anything stating that it is for dealers only, so I'd say it's for everybody. Just my thinkin'.

Captain, I would go with the Fenix if it was me, They seem to be much brighter and get more battery life. My second choice would be a Streamlight.
I've never failed to be impressed with Fenix. In truth I've not had a huge exposure to their products, but what I have experienced has been very satisfactory. In my mind, they are one of the reliable names, and if I want a torch (no Cap'n - not a fire on a stick ) of a specific format, I tend to look at Fenix first to see what they offer
