I am SO tired of spending 4 to 5 dollars at wally world for the big pair of nail clippers in fancy packaging.

Every time you clip, you apply exsseive force until there is a clang and a shutter down your finger.

Only because the jaws NEVER line up.

(...)

One way to avoid this: cut your nails after a shower (they'll be softer). Also, don't put the full cutting part of the blades over the nails, do it instead like this:

(Image removed from quote.)

This will create a different resistence along the blades. The parts not touching the nail will come toghether first, making a progressive cut and avoiding the "all-at-once" cut/snap.
That is how I do it, I take small nips all the way around. I'd much rater file 8 tiny angles then 1 or 2 corners.

Just looking from the sides I can see the nail clipper edges don't line up!

Oh man. Nothings worse then pinching a splinter, yanking, and you can feel it slide off.

Or holding it up to the light and seeing just two tiny spots where there ISN'T a gap....

I like the two dollar Revlon clippers. They work well and leave clean lines, have a fairly aggressive file, and cut zip ties pretty easily. AND, as embarrassed as I am to admit this, the lever arm makes a great staple remover at work.

I use an old clipper "borrowed" from my dad, it's many years i've been using it and it is wonderful, almost everything else i have tried feels like junk in comparison. I almost fear to lose it one day...
It is really great quality, it's not by case it is made in Japan and is no chinese junk. I will post a pic asap!

I've found the True Utility keychain ones to be pretty good, and very portable.

At home I use a Seki Edge clipper. Yes, it's $17. It works, and it can cut men's toenails, which is an achievement.
