I guess that's a strong argument for metal tube. Less shrapnel than a plastic battery tube.

And I agree with Joel on this one. He did it to himself. EVERY SITE that sells Li-ion cells and every flashlight seller has a disclamer on using batteries and that you should ALWAYS use batteries by the same brand, same charge, never with different charge levels. Otherwise this happens. But some people don't read those or think "That will never happen to me."
