Spots on PST Files

i ordered these off of ebay knowing that they had spots on them. it really doesnt bother me that they have spots because one of them is replacing another file that looks a lot worse. i was just wondering if anyone else has seen these spots before and what is the cause of them?

Its just rust. The files are normally the first thing to start rusting as when they cut the file it leaves the metal "less protected" and porous which means they are more susceptible to rust.

That is if you are talking about the redish looking spots.

Yep, what the capt. said.    A little Wd-40 and a fine wire brush will likely clean them up.
