OK, here we go.

I headed over to a small place called Aberfoyle where I was going to meet my friend for our two day paddle.  Due to work my friend couldn't get there until later that night so I spent a little time checking over the area to confirm put-in spots, parking and to see if we could navigate down this river.....

Errrr.....no, not for us. :whistle:

With that in mind we decided to alter the trip a little and treat it as a "shake down" for both ourselves and the canoe.  Saturday morning found us at the lower tip of Loch Ard, where we parked up and had a short walk in to get to the shore.

The weather that morning couldn't have really been any better.

Stopped about mid day to take on some fuel (coffee) and stretch our legs.

Still a bit of snow on the hill tops, but it was nice and clear down on the water.  We did have a good, strong head wind to contend with for a while. Strong enough to put crests on the waves coming at us.  No pics of that, we were otherwise engaged at the time. ;)

"No, no Matt; you put your feet up and I'll do the paddling"::)

Here's a shot of an island in the middle of the loch, again a good chance to eat and take it easy.

Stopped out for the night and had to think about a fire.

The tools;

The result;

Turns out my mate is a pyromaniac who likes his fires big. :D

This morning was quite a different kettle of fish.  About 5 minutes after getting up at 7am the snow started coming down thick and fast.  Deciding discretion is the better part of valour (and the fact we'd really seen all the sights on the Loch) we paddled for home.  Very odd was actually being about to watch the ice crystals form in the more sheltered parts of the water, like someone had spilled a giant Slush-Puppy.

That's it for now.  Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on my friends pictures later on and share some with you.

Yeah, I was pleasantly surprised with just how good it is, especially given that they're not at all expensive.  It wasn't particularly sharp out of the box and I think I'm going to reduce the edge angle at some point as I'm finding it a bit obtuse ATM.  Over-all though I like the little thing.
