aaa light ?
on: February 28, 2015, 06:01:27 PM
My little aaa true nite ti firefly finally took a crap on me. I need to replace it and I should upgrade to a better light while I'm at it.

I want 100 plus lumens "the brighter the better" multi mode quality  made aaa, light in an gray or natural finish.

I will be edcing it with a grey juice s2  a benchmade 531 and a stonewashed 154cm ptx piranha. It should look good with them.

I'm thinking about another maratac.  The aaa in natural finish.
http://www.countycomm.com/aaastainless.html

I have a AA maratac that's been a good light.

It costs a bit for what it can do so I I'd like your suggestions .

also

Technology improves so fast in the flashlight world I can't keep up. I'd hate to be missing out on a better light.

Price is always a concern but i can save up if i have to. I'm going to use it alot.

There's many members on here that know there lights way way better than me .

Thank you for your input.

I'm going to use this little one a bunch.

What millhouse said. :tu:

I'll also add the Fenix E05 (new 3 mode edition) - comes in SS - to the mix.

I'd go with the Maratac...wish we could get County Comm goodies in the UK ::)
or how about the ThruNite Titanium with a massive 162 lumen output from a single AAA :tu:

My suggestion is not gray/neutral, but stainless which may be close enough.  Fenix E05:

http://www.amazon.com/Fenix-E05-Stainless-flashlight-EdisonBright/dp/B00LGYTET2

I have this light in both stainless and black.  Awesome light.  Big output if you need it, or 2 lower outputs for longer burn time.   For a good while now, the black flavor has been my EDC light.  It weighs less than the stainless.  I feed it an AAA rechargeable Eneloop for as much "free" light as I want. [Note that there is also a pre-2014 flavor with only 1 output.  You don't want it.].

Check out the range of MatchBox Instruments, most of his lights come with a seperate body for aaa and a seperate body for his propietry battery "nuke". Some of his lights get up to 600 lumens and are really well made

NOT THE SAME LIGHT. :pok:

As I said in reply #3, the NEW 3 mode version. :pok:

They only come in black alu or stainless steel have 3 modes and MUCH more output than the old E05s.

They only came out in 2014.

As far as i remember the old one-mode (many funky colors available) has around 19 lumen.

The new 3-mode model (black and stainless) has iirr 8 lumen, 25 lumen, 85 lumen.

I edc the black since it came out - also have the stainless for use in the house. And i love both.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

is the stainless one worth the premium over the aluminium one?
None of the torches I've killed have had issues with their aluminium bodies, just internally.

Edit: well actually, I've had a tatty looking Solitaire, but they're just a bit pants.

Difference is the look, only. Not for it´s function, it works exactly as the black alu one.

It depends if you like it´s shiny look, i love that - nonetheless i carry the black for edc, it just suits better to my edc BO Surge in their combined sheat. Black in black. Also the tac-pen i carry sometimes is black.

The stainless is better looking on these days i want to go more light and shiny (dressed up), just the flash and a small shiny Skeletool.

Have a look on powernoodles pic - i see no way someone can´t love the shiny look.
Have fun.

Bye,
Michael

Run time isn't much of a factor.  It will be used mostly at home.

I'm most likely taking Doc suggestions and getting this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SFMFKQY/ref=mlt_base_B00SFMFKQY

It's just about perfect.  I'm going to dull down its shiny finish somehow.

My interest was peaked until I read "strobe" and "memory". I dislike strobes, and despise memory. If that light has a crenelated bezel, it would make it to the top of the Mall Ninja gear charts.

I got it.

Yeah I got the ti working again after a few hard wacks.

I don't trust it anymore so I'm using it to experiment with some different coatings.

Auto body undercoating being the best so far. Farm tractor primer works pretty good too. It wears off but looks cools with a little wear.

Thanks for looking out though Steve :tu:
