Sorry about the bad news zed. It does mean there's something better for you both. We went through it over the last few years until I got this job then everything fell into place. Hang in there til it works out for you, which it will.

Sorry to hear that Paul. :(  The good news is that if she interviews well it's only a matter of time before she's offered something. :salute:

Just read through it all for an update. Sorry to hear about the news bud. It's all about how you bounce back from here! Luckily you sound pretty ready to move on. Keep up the search and something will always work out!

Also, has anyone ever put "multitool.org member" on a resume?

do not quit a job until you are 100% sure you have another one.

do not rush into a job assuming it will be better than what you have,

make sure at least one person in the household has a (any) job at any point.

Zed, have either of you thought of going into housing based care?

I worked in care for many years and totally agree with your sentiments regarding the low wages and long hours (on zero hour contracts) for a really valuable and important job.

Last year I'd had enough of scrpaing by and got a job as an estate manager on a retirement complex.
I work 8.30 to 4 Monday to Friday and I get to live on site here in lovely Bath (where I could never afford to live otherwise).

The housing companies seem to be gearing towards a more care based service meaniong that people like you and your wife are the sort of people they are looking for. It's what tipped the balance in my favour for this job I have now.

PM me if you want any more details.

There are so many good people in care work being taken advantage of by crappy companies.

I really hope you're both successful finding a new and better job. I can relate as I live in a city where it's nearly impossible to get hired and don't get me started on how expensive it is to pick up and move
