Make some suggestions for us to listen to, I'm always ready for some more metal!

Okay. From the groups I mentioned...

Tyr (A Faroe Islands Metal Band with sound like mid-late 80's Metallica, and many viking themes)
For Instance... "Hold the Heathen Hammer High"...

Within Temptation, a sort of Symphonic sound, similar in many ways to Nightwish and Evanescence. Here's one which includes Howard Jones (former front for Killswitch Engage)

Godsmack. I'm not sure how anyone could have missed these guys, along with the next group I'm going to list, but... Here's a sample...

Disturbed and/or Device. The lead singer of Disturbed did a separate project under the group title 'Device'. Both groups are pretty awesome.

Something I hadn't previously mentioned. There's this... REALLY weird fusion of metal/dubstep. Lzzy Hale, front for Halestorm provides vocals for Lindsey Sterling, a dubstep violinist (no, really), in her first song with actual lyrics, and while it sounds insane, it works great.

Now, put Device together with Lzzy Hale, in this cover of 'Close Your Eyes Forever'.

While his fame has mostly come and gone, Marilyn Manson is surprisingly hard for all the makeup and theatrics. (WARNING, the lyrics in this version have been 'cleaned up', a practice I abhor).

Here's a single from a band that I have an eye on, Like A Storm. This is the only one I've heard from them, but it's pretty awesome.

yeah some youtube policy has changed from v2 to v3 or something... I need to look at the autoembed mod, and will probably have to replace it. No time to deal with it right now.

What's your Judas Priest favourite? A great HM group. I particularly like Rob Halford's high pitch voice which was a trend in the '80s (together with Bruce Dickinson, Udo Dirkschneider, Brian Johnson etc), but they made great music and songs that are equally catching when sung by a complete different style singer. Hear my favourite, Breaking the Law, by Motorhead!

Nice topic - great band, and what a singer! Very brave too, coming out in the macho world of metal.

My personal favourite is 'Electric Eye' but as with all great bands there are so many to choose from.

A VIP of blues and metal alike in Europe, almost unknown in the US,  Gary Moore. What's your favorite Moore song? Mine is Out in the fields but I love the Shapes of things cover too.
RIP Gary Moore
RIP Phil Lynnot

Great player! More suited to Metal than blues IMO - Listening to him twiddling that overdriven Peter Green Les Paul while Albert Collins and Albert King do their subtle thing was like watching a 3 year old trying to impress its dad.

I have to plum for the triumverate of 'Out in the Fields', 'Shapes of Things' and 'Over the Hills'.
